I did this too.

Brake switch, just reset it. Had this on my 182 for ages, rest the brake switch and it was perfect. Couldn't believe I hadn't tried it months ago!

Doesn't bad brake switch adjustment cause intermittent faults too?

I did the exhaust cam last. I did 'nip' them up tight and tested the the timing with the horseshoe before torquing them up. When I torqued them, they didn't move.

It's been a few months since I did it, but I seem to remember tightening the depahser and then putting some tension on the exhaust pulley anti clockwise while I nipped up the nut up. It was if the locking tool had a slight bit of movement in it and added up with a bit of movement elsewhere...

It's worth phoning around. I needed a front spring for my 197, RPD said they're on back order, but Wolverhampton had one in stock.

Bought a crank shaft pulley about 4 months ago from RPD, they still advertise them.

The Clio was 10 months old and the Fiesta 9 months old, the attempted thefts were 7 years apart. I live in Solihull, car crime is rife over here at the moment. If the diamond button on the boot and the passenger door button, lock the car, it's most probably the button. They can be intermittent or completely fail. Cheap to fix, but a bit of a fiddle!

I'm up to 139k miles, don't be too put off by high mileage, just make sure the price reflects it!

I used red grease used on brake caliper seals as I had some handy, but anything that won't attack rubber.
