Honestly my best advice is to get a decent/genuine tool that doesnt have any movement on the cam. Having a duff tool caused me massive headaches and let to me having to time it 3 times to get the damn thing to run smoothly
The inlet manifold will have a gasket on it. Ne careful to make sure ot seal properly or youll have issues. There will also be a rubber gasket at the back of the manifold that seals to the breather plate

Up to you how you do the rack conversion. You can use a manual rack out of a diesel or you can loop the rack. Personally manual rack would give a better feel and more reliability. If replacing rack would be easier to lower subframe. Easy enough to do though.

I think its enough to be causing my symptons. Its visibly out compared to exhaust cam and every now and then it pops back through the inlet, meaning inlet valves must be open during a combustion stroke. Ive smoked the intake system and its free of any leaks...

Thanks for your reply robzracing. Continued investigation into this today. Thinking along the lines of air leak, thought i'd triple check the timing. With the crank pinned, the cam horseshoe slides straight in. Although i thought this was a good time when i last checked, i today found out the...
So i took the end caps out and pinned the crank. Cam tools slides straight in so happy the timing wad correct. Replaced 4x injectors and still no better. It improves a little when warm but idle is still around 1200 rpm and a little lumpy. If i rev hard from idle it misses but will pick up, its...
Thanks brigsy. I couldnt remember as i built the engine up probably 18 months ago. Only just getting round to actually running and trying to sort this misfire, wasnt sure if there was anything special i shouldve done. I can't find anything
Thanks for your reply brigsy. Ive checked timing. With crank pinned, cams are both spot on. I did replace the dephaser pulley, are you aware of how to fit them, wasnt sure if there was any special way of setting them up. Ive got a set of injectors on way to test and a coil.
Hey guys. In need of a little help. Coming to completion on thw build of my clio but cant sort a rough idle and slight misfire. When revving from idle the revs drop before raising. Idle is quite lumpy too. Compression test shows all 4 cylinders between 195-200 after cylinder head rebuild and new...
