UPDATE
I've sourced a cylinder head and I'm going to have the engine rebuilt with new head bolts, gaskets etc.
I've been quoted to £280 labour to have the top end rebuild, with me supplying all the parts.
So now it's parts time!
I went genuine parts with the clio last time, so I will do it...
Stripped it down. Head is pretty much dead. All the rocker arms are loose some of the holders have snapped or damaged. The exhaust valves are all bent, and the bore has slight scoring as a result. Block might be ok but wouldn't really know until you put it back together. Seems like a new engine...

I need some advice. I have a 172 that the Auxiliary belt snapped and took the cambelt with it. I am wanting to strip down the head and assess the damage and see if the engine can be salvaged. At the moment I've found the camshafts are damaged and I think are hydraulic lifters...
Plenty of room even when it's busy. Also know a fantastic road to hemsley. About 40min drive from Coulby Newham, but it's a fantastic drive once your out in the countryside.

Out of interest, had it not been a CAT C, what would it of fetched?

My beutiful car was crashed in late January this year and as result is now a CAT C. I fixed it and is faultless, but wonder what it would be worth if wanted to sell it. I expect to keep it as I wouldn't touch a CAT C so why would anyone else? I have a Ph2 02...
I'm 25 and bought my 172 last year in september. Prior to that I drove my bro's ph1 172 when I was 18-19 and loved it! Can't beliebe it took me this long to get one!
