Wossner Valves

Has anyone fitted Wossner valves? It states that they need to be fitted with uprated valve springs due to an altered collet height, I’m only running the standard 182 cams so I’m unsure if I can fit uprated springs (cat cams springs) to a standard camshaft?

Will they be to stiff? Or will they ‘wear’ the lobes on the cams??

Anyone shed any light!?????

Catcams springs are fine with stock cams. I run them in 2 of my f4r on stock cams no wear, the followers are roller rocker.

When fitting the springs will need to be shimmed to achieve the correct fitted height.

Any benefit to Wossner valves over Supertech valves? They don't need different springs.

Also 197 springs are uprated over the 182 ones.

I'm replacing my standard (bent 🙄) valves with Wossner steel valves and Catcam valve springs.

You mention shimming to achieve correct fitted height.

How is this done?

I understand the need to keep the springs heights within tolerance, but as I've never had to do this before, I'm not sure of the process.

Any guides or help would be much appreciated 👏

Fit the valves and springs to the head as they are and measure the installed height of the spring, and if not correct adjust to suit with shims.

The machine shop i use made custom shims that fit over the valve stem oil seals, they said its better than shimming underneath the valve stem oil seal.

Sounds easy enough.

Do you happen to know what the installed height should be?

You will need to go on the catcams website and get the info.
Cheers mate, appreciate the help.

I turbo converted my 172 3 years ago after a belt tensioner gave up and ended up bending valves.
I fitted new standard valves and springs at that point. Never had an issue until I managed to clip the valves recently.
Totally my own fault (too high revs from traffic light grand prix 🤣) and I think a bit of valve float happened.

Anyway thought it's an ideal time to upgrade the valves and springs, but keen not to to be pulling the engine out again anytime soon after its done, do want to get it right first time lol

Happy snap of the the head the first time this happened and after instalmentof new standard valves

being retentive here...
doesn't that add 'moving mass' to the spring/valve, whereas a shim from the bottom doesn't?

Its just a shim on top of the valve stem oil seal instead of being under it so still at the bottom of the spring/head side, not the retainer side which would add moving mass.
