Tried all of Rockwank's support suggestions. Two in particular relating to setting changes on the RDR2.exe - stop the game from even launching. Again - great testing there, guys. Some of them even make little sense from a software perspective. Like hearing knocking coming from the rear of your car and then being told to swap-out the bulb in one of the front fog lights to fix it. Sounds like grabbing at straws.

Never had any issues with their games before. All of the GTAs work fine - even the elderly LA Noire has zero problems.

Anyways, uninstalled and if it was a physical copy I had - straight into the bin it would go.

Am I sure? 100%!

I tried it on K&M and it felt really bad, went back to controller. But I find most games that aren’t FPS really strange on K&M.

There’s a lot that a controller is better for. Anything like a platformer, basic racing game, etc. But with any FPS or 3rd person game - I find K&M to be way better. The precision alone is worth the effort over controller for me.

i can understand the K&M for actual shooting would be a better shout but for everything else i think a controller would be better surely?

There's a lot of other genres that just slot into the K&M control method much more easily though. RPG, aRPGS, strategy games, adventure, RTSs - the list goes on. I remember some RTS games being released on the PlayStation and thought that was mental. How anyone would even have the patience for an RTS with a controller, is beyond me! :)

The article below is over two years old, but it seems that K&M are still the preference for PC games too.

Of course, the common practice these days is to mix & match - and a couple of games I do that for. Some vehicle parts in FPSs for example, are way more easier to handle with a controller.

What grinds my gears is the complete lack of established support by certain lazy b*****d dev teams. Take RDR2 like I mentioned previously - not including scroll-wheel support for a game with a crazy amount of inputs is unforgivable. Scroll-wheels aren't new. The gaming industry has used them for decades and for the sake of about a dozen lines of code or inserting a pre-built API, Rockstar couldn't have implemented it?

Play it on a console 😏
Err - nah!

Think I got it sorted. Looks like MSI Afterburner was set to an overly keen under-volt - leading to a false error message relating to a specific nVidia file. Strange though as Assetto Corsa Competizione is way more demanding hardware-wise and that hasn't bitched once.

Removed Afterburner as a test and all ran fine. I just have a PC that sounds on par with a Chinook taking off at the minute. I'll reinstall Afterburner, but ignore the under-voltage and just bring the fans a bit more inline. No doubt they are set to something daft like 75% fan speed at 35C.

Using mix & match of the controller so far - the majority with the pad and then any shooting stuff, I'm straight onto the mouse. Did the initial fight scene in the barn with the K&M though and then went to pickup my gun and my hat. Having just picked up various items in the house with default E key - I now had to pickup my gun with the F key and then hold down the B key to nab my hat. Yet on the controller, it's one function - as any sane human being would want it to be.

Rockstar. Honestly - what crack-pipe were you on with this? :p

Locked 30fps 🤢
A decent refresh rate is massively noticeable - and one that I struggle to do without.

For the vast majority of the time, I'm using my monitor @ 144hz - but output to the TV at 60hz for the driving games. Occasionally, that 60hz precedence stays on the monitor as well, but you notice it in 2 or 3 seconds into a game. It looks crap in comparison and all good again once switched back.

I'm a snob mate, I genuinely can't play games under 60fps, they just look too jerky for me. I always select performance mode on the PS5 over resolution.

A minimum of 60fps is hardly being a snob mate, I would say anything less is unplayable for me as well, but it’s whatever you’re used to I guess. Being a PC gamer for the last 20 years means I expect it. Consoles are great for what they are, can’t beat them bang for your buck but they are never going to be great for fps and quality, it’s always going to be one of the other but for what you pay for one you can’t even get a mid range graphics card in a PC anymore.

Yeah same mate, I'm a PC gamer and always have been. I can justify 60fps on a console because it doesn't look too bad when sitting far away but on the PC I couldn't play CS or Dota at 60fps :ROFLMAO: They have to be a minimum of 120+

It's weird I know, 60fps on a monitor looks like 30fps on a TV to me.
