Don’t think the 5 is meant to be a hot hatch, it’s just a five door hatchback for the masses.

The people wanting a performance version will need to get one of the alpine models (I’m sure there will be a first edition version and hotter versions to follow).

‘cos it’s the base paint choice and they reckon people with the top spec don’t want it confused with the lower spec. It’ll be some dogshit like that.

I’m pretty pissed off with the options on the configurator to be honest… it can’t be the real thing surely..? There’s no option to change the indicator stalk like they said there would be, no option to upgrade to the Harmon Kardon sound system, no other optional extras to choose etc.

Luckily, for me, the yellow is available on the Iconic 5 trim albeit at extra cost and the wheels I like best are the only available option. I’m still annoyed.

Much as I like my LY I am apprehensive at having loads about.

I remember when they did that mustardy 208 a couple of years back & loads about. Wife has a 25th Anniversary MX5 in Soul Red & every 2nd Mazda SUV you see is in soul red.

Does anybody know if Renault/Alpine Glasgow have any models in?

I really thought I'd never be interested in an electric car but I'm becoming really interested in the new 5. It's actually the first new car for a good while whether ICE or electric which has got me excited.

We now have a driveway, also have solar panels. I think the mileage I do - 90% is short journeys.

I am wondering if to hold of and see how second hand values look in 2/3 years.

Has anybody got one ordered? When are you expecting to receive?

How does the battery work? I recall with the Zoe it was on a lease type basis.

Has anybody seen one
in person, any thoughts please?

Personally I like the blue. I'd then be tempted to get the wheels done in silver.

In Paris next weekend so hoping to see a few about!

Pretty sure the test drives for those with the R-Pass aren’t taking place until some time in Feb so I’m guessing you won’t be able to test drive one until then.

I placed my order for mine on the 15th, delivery end of April apparently.

I’ve taken a big gamble because as of the 2nd Jan He-Man have no plans to make dual controls for it.

I might have to start a go fund me for some custom fit universals instead 🥺🙁

I'd imagine the throttle and brake will be fly by wire so shouldn't be too difficult for someone to add duel control to it. Would it?

My current duals are Rod controlled so are physically fixed to the drivers pedals and move with the drivers brake pedal. It’s not rocket science but it just takes a bit of fabrication and to make sure the pedal box is fixed to the bulkhead and the rods have a clear route through to the passenger side.

Still it’s a niche thing and He-Man are the market leaders in the industry and insurance companies ask if you’ve got dual controls fitted as a requirement for the insurance.

I think they’re going to be a big hit. They look great, they’re decent to drive, they’ve got good efficiency, they’re well packaged thanks to being on a dedicated EV platform, they’re relatively affordable.

Mini have lost the plot with their new design IMO so that segment is ripe for the taking.

I wasn't looking for a test drive more to see one in person. I finally got through to Reno Glasgow but they don't have any. They had the A290 in a few weeks ago but said they are going into shopping centres throughout the UK now.

Hoping I see a few next weekend in France. I'm fasinated by them, as you say they seem to have nailed it. I love the design and the interior looks brilliant.

The R pass comes to an end at the end of January. I'll unlikely do it but it's tempting for the price.

That’s not a uk spec techno. Wrong wheels. Looks like an Iconic 5 comfort range but with techno seats… 🤷🏼‍♀️

I prefer the alloys on the UK spec techno.

My local Renault said they would have them available to test drive in April.

In Paris for the weekend so I got along to see the 5 in person then was told Alpine was 30 mins away so went along to have a look.

The 5 is brilliant. Interior I think is really high quality and the whole car just has character which electric cars have been missing. I seen a yellow one from a far, it certainly stood out.

A290 I think will have real presence on the road, interior and the leather was really nice. Some parts from the A110 gear selector mainly but it's the 5 for me.

Glad to have seen them in person. Renault have nailed it.

The Alpine looks great in matte grey imo. Shame the one to get is so much more than the dearest R5.
Yeah limited edition as well

I'm not a fan of matt cars so it wasn't for me, just looks like a wrap. Interior was very nice on that one.

Sure, it might be on the 5 but a limited run, tennis related. I haven't seen or heard much about for a while.

I think with the 5 with a 20mm drop would give it some real purpose. 😅 21 year old me coming back to life.

£40750 for the premiere edition in matte grey🥹. In black without that extra paint price it would just creep in under the expensive car tax. That seems like a f**k up by Renault to me.

You’ll need to look at the RRP not the OTR cost. That’s how it’s taken into account, so with delivery cost, first reg fee etc then it’ll likely be under the £40k.

I think both the R5 and Alpine are great.
Shame the powerful one is such a jump in price. Loving the interiors too
