Clio 3 RS200 Exhaust/Flexi's/Mounts questions - New owner

Hi All,

Proud owner of a Silverstone GP. Well, I was, until the exhaust started blowing:(

Noise coming from front bottom of car, and as the exhaust manifold doesn't look too old (and I can see top part of one flexi looks very very frayed), I'm guessing that I have a choice of either new Flexi's welded in or full new system from manifold down to remove flexi's. I'm realising this is a ball ache and, without a lift, I have no chance but to get someone to do this.

Apart from K-Tec solutions what else do people suggest? How many hours labour is normal to be billed to remove/replace? Any suggestions on places who've done this a lot?

I'd rather a) do it as cheaply as possible but otherwise it's b) full system. I can't see the point in having to pay the labour on this more than once when this clearly happens a lot.

Also, the engine mount (top) clearly needs doing and I'm guessing it's a good idea to do whatever mounts are on the gearbox at same time as exhaust. Anyone have oem part numbers? What aftermarket suggestions ppl have? Powerflex or?

Thanks in advance all for any help, love the car so much but this is definitely a £££ set back. Still, just learning about it to be honest and trying to keep it in as good a condition as possible.

Replacing the manifold isn't an easy job. If you don't want to spend big bucks on it go to an exhaust place and ask about new flexis fitting. If you're in it for the long haul and are willing to splash the cash get a pure motorsport manifold fitted.

Thanks Pal for the reply(y). Yep, she's a keeper. Always wanted one and it easily keeps up with my mate's GR Yaris's, Abarth 695's etc on the B-Roads:) I like to do stuff myself but no chance without a lift. Already done brake discs/pads.

I'm guessing that the whole manifold still needs to come out to do flexi's? Or can it be done in situ if the sub-frame etc is removed? If you know of course.

I'll check out Pure, thankyou:)

Guys,

Has anyone replaced the oem manifold themselves at home? I'm just wondering how difficult it actually is? Is there anything difficult underneath to remove for example or is it just a two/three bolt sub-frame and anti-roll bar? I'm wondering if I build some ramps with a decent angle whether I can realistically slacken off manifold bolts, raise, undo subframe/arb and cat v-band/clamp and just pull out from underneath?

I don't have a manual (the Haynes one says it doesn't include F4R832 - RS200) so I'm not entirely sure what I need to take off underneath. All I can see from clambering under on jack's is sub-frame and arb.

I have two options as I see it now, 1) pull out and weld-in new flexi's 2) Pure oem manifold.

Also, there's only one lambda sensor isn't there on the standard RS200 exhaust? i.e. After the main Cat before the back boxes. So, if so, why on the Pure oem manifold does it have what looks like a sensor pocket? The Pure oem manifold connects directly to the standard oem Cat back system doesn't it (beginning at v-band/clamp) so I'm scratching my head. Sure someone here must know?

If I can't fix the oem header I'd like to get the Pure oem one and add their Cat-back section later on for cost reasons. That would be my fall back plan anyway if that is how its supposed to work

CheeRS mate, yes, someone at Pure emailed me to confirm that. I cudnt see it but get it now. (y).

If any noobs like me ever read this this shud save you the time:

1. The Pure oem manifold can be fitted to standard system as direct replacement pre-Cat without having to replace full oem system.
2. You can then add the Pure Cat-back (or no Cat) back half at a later date when cash allows.

Still interested to know if anyone's done this at home and what needs removing to get manifold out from underneath. Still assuming sub-frame, arb and maybe steering rack?
