I'm posting this in the hope it may be of help to anyone has a wheel bearing problem in future and needs advice from this site. Some existing threads contain information which is not totally true, there is limited information, or information is spread out. The following is based upon recent...
I started the car yesterday morning at @7:25am and the problem was still there. A friend told me to run the engine and check whether the belt was turning/slipping so later that morning I went back to try that, but this time the car started and was running fine without any warning lights and...
This evening I stopped to get petrol. When I drove away there was a burning smell ( electrical ) I had unusally loud feedback from my amplifier and there was a funny noise from the engine. I stopped the car and looked under the bonnet but couldn't see anything wrong. I started the engine and the...
Last year I was obviously interested to read about a new clio coming out, with 6 gears bigger brakes 197 bhp etc and I hoped it would help reposition the clio as the best hot hatch. More recently detailed specifications have come out and I was disappointed to see that the top speed was only 134...
A hand grip on my Clio 172's steering wheel became unstuck and broke up in the heat some time ago, the other has just slightly started coming up too. I contacted my dealer, because I wanted it sorted under warranty. My dealer tells me they have put a claim in, but Renault must have the...
I did wonder whether the cover was a zip on, and if it is, does the whole seat back have to be removed? I had a look around before posting last night and couldnt find the zip pull itself, then that made me unsure if it was a zip or merely a stiched seam??? Is it definitely zipped?
I had an amp put in for me last month, and it has been screwed into the back of one of the rear seats as can be seen on the left hand side of the picture.

The only problem is, there is only the fabric to screw into, and...
Big G AND Maurice WT, were you pushing the car when the SERV TC and ABS lights came on? I was going round a roundabout in a controlled sideways drift, whilst jamming on the brakes to stop at traffic lights when it happened to me. I had been showing off at the time, and when the lights came up...
Are coilovers just a term for shocks and springs together, or is it something similar that replaces shocks and springs? If I want to lower my 172 and make it handle better what is the best value for money option for me to go for? Can you provide any examples with prices?
Thanks
I want to look at either painting the cover, or replacing with a carbon fibre version. To do this I need to take off the cover, is it merely a case of undoing some more bolts or is there more to it, like replacing seals/gasket etc?
Secondly, If I looked at colouring the renaultsport logo what...
I have seen some pictures of Clios recently where the Renaultsport logo on the engine and inlet manifold were nice and shiny like chrome. This is done by polishing. How do you go about polishing it, do the different parts have to be taken off so they can be put on a machine, or is there some...
I hoping to get a s/s cat back with twin4" ovals, the only thing is my 172 does not have a cavity for the pipes, so I think it will look rather strange sitting just underneath the back bumper. If I look at shaping the bumper to the profile of the tailpipes, what is the best way of doing this...
I heard a local Nissan Dealer had become a Renault Dealer and as they had been very good with my Almera GTI I booked my 1st service with them. I found out later they are not a Renault Dealer yet.....but I went through with the service by them, since Renault told me if they used proper parts my...
A girl who I go to Tae Kwon Do with asked me "why does the fuel gauge on my 172 have a "1" at the top of the gauge and an "R" at the bottom" - very simple question, but I didnt know why; do you?
The auto wipers work fine for me, but when the car was new I didnt think they were much cop...they were just not set up to my liking sensitivity wise, but now they are they are fine - Im sooo lazy now, it annoys me that I have to flick the stalk to activate them for the first time.
A few...
I actually went to have a star crack repaired at Autoglass and asked them about this. I was told that no, the windscreen hadnt been replaced with the green tinted windows like the rest of the car, but an antiglare/UV reflective type screen that is much more expensive. As thats the case, I can...
Posted on both Cliosport and Xpower sites
Glad these threads have calmed down a bit now. Whats the point getting all het up over who has a better car, because there will always be better cars than what youve got?
Id like to point out again, not only have I owned both cars in question, I was...
Ok thanks for that, I think in my previous cars, the tinted windows ( factory fitted ) have all seemed the same colour and when I needed a new windscreen for my Almera Gti, Autoglass actually asked me what colour tint was on the car so they could match up .
All other windows seem to have a...
Im pretty jinxed with my cars.....had loadsa problems with my ZR160, so changed to Clio172 53 reg ( 2nd hand ) where other people have given me problems with the car. I had the car a week, when I was overtaking and a 3rd party didnt check their mirrors properly and decided to overtake as I was...
I dont think its that bad, but, the splitter looks pants so replace whole lot with a better bumper with built in front spoiler and fog lights. Union Jack stickers are naff. The headlight covers are really bad. Wheels and mirrors are nice. The sticker strips are ok imo - can you imagine how...
Thanks again. I have to say, you lot seem more friendly than the MG forum was. Some on there were really arsey and up themselves! When I get my car sorted n stuff, I might try to arrange a meet - gr8 roads up here! :D would anyone be interested?
Thanks for the welcome guys, keep em coming!! Yeah im gonna have to phone up to find out when my car is gonna get sorted, they are really dragging their feet, its coming up for 2 weeks now, and it really naffs me off, because I had a brand new looking car that I was proud of and now its just...
That is the only problem I have noticed on my car - it whistles from 60mph upwards.
Keeper, does the whistle get louder if you open either front window? Noise seems to be coming from the vent and disappears when the ventilation/climate control is activated? I want to know what is causing...
Turn the key to auxilliary, but then you need to wait for the circular imobiliser light to go off - it is in the centre of the display - to the left of SERV! Then turn the key the rest of the way to start!!
As someone else mentioned, 60mph seems very high - Im suprised the rev limiter hasnt already come in on a 1.2.
The quicker an engine is made to turn the more stress and friction it will be subjected to. Its no big deal to hit the rev limiter - its there to try to prevent damage to the engine...
This is an easy one - blimming scratches down left hand side of my what was a brand new looking car after a guy hit me as I was overtaking him!!!!! :@ should have checked his mirrors!!
Was taking gf and her aunty for a spin 6 days after getting the car. Cruising down Wrexham bypass when a Jag zooms past. So I thought, well lets see what this car can do and lets annoy a Jag driver with a lil Clio zooming back past it. Speedo got up to @136 mph, didnt notice the revs...
