Should the 182 alarm self arm and self lock if it is a Thatcham ll alarm. Mine does neither and there is nothing in the "comprehensive" manual to help me. Does everybody elses alarm self arm and can it be set to self lock.
Reporting a power steering fluid leak
"my clio 182 has a power steering fluid leak"
"Clios dont have power steering fluid, its electric"
"Mine isnt"
"how do you know its power steering fluid"
"Its red, oily, leaking from a pipe going to the steering rack, and I keep topping up a...
Had a local garage change mine for £15 labour, although he regreted not looking at the job before quoting.
Yes, oil does go everywhere. Mine needed a quick blast with a jetwash to clean it off.
Dont attempt it with the engine hot, just warm enough to thin the oil or you will burn your arms...
The renault handbook recommends 5w40 and not 10w40.
I asked at the dealer if the car is supplied with different oil for the running in period and he said no.
Cars that are supplied initially with running in oil usually have an oil change service at about 1000miles as did my old subaru.
Just changed mine at 3000miles(after two trackdays);).
Used Halfords 5w40 fully synthetic, half price last week at £17.
It meets all the standards and I doubt if halfords make it themselves in the back of the shop.
It was definatly worth paying £15 to my local garage to do the change after...
I am asking about lifting points for a trolley jack NOT the standard scissor jack. I dont want to use the sill jacking points because they are bending, I want the places the tyre fitters use. Sorry for any confusion im not one of those people who cant read a manual.;)
Can anybody show me the jacking points when using a trolley jack on my 182, preferably with pics. Also, will lifting the front with a trolley jack get both wheels off the deck(both wheels on one side I mean).
Thanks in advance.
Can anybody tell me if renault fit a 15" by 6.5" alloy on any vehicle preferably with an offset to suit a clio 182 (ET45), or 6" wide if no 6.5" is availible.
Have bought a set of 16" alloys for track use but after trashing two pairs of road tyres I need some serious trackday rubber and there...
Is it a replacable part, it looks like it might be bolted on. I bent it back and it stayed reasonably straight next time but im worried it may slip off the jack.
I dont mind stuff like the parcel shelf being flimsy but you would think the jacking points would support the weight of the car!
Was changing the wheels today ready for a trackday and this is the result.

Just booked my second Track Action trackday in Anglesey on the 6th August, a short 1 mile circuit that really suits the 182. Kept pace with a lotus elise in the dry and I was taking the piss in the wet. Come on and give it a try I was the only Clio last time.
Will 15" wheels fit over the brakes on a 182. Thinking of buying a second set for trackday use and 15" tyres are cheaper and there is more choice availible.
Sorry Huw ill mention it next time, do you live nearby.
It suprised me how safe it felt in the wet but like you say, on the track the tyre temperatures will be higher and the surface is probably grippier.
It was great fun following the RWD cars, a Porsche 911 even spun on the sighting lap...
superb in the wet, inspired a lot of confidence. I Kept the ESP on all through the session but I only noticed it through the hairpin and when cutting across the rumble strips in the wet, it is very unintrusive.
Yes CocoPops, standard 182 with cup suspension only done 1500 miles. The front tyres are looking a bit ragged but I think I overheated them on my first dry session as the pressure was up to 39.5 when I came off.
I may be looking for a spare set of wheels with tyres more suitable for the track...
Ty Croes is on Anglesey and it does have plenty of run off on most of the track. The top speed at the end of the pit straight is about 85-90 and all of the circuit can be done in second and third.
I booked through track-action and if you look at the website there are some videos of the cicuit.
Just got home from my first trackday at TY Croes with the 182 and it performed superbly. In the wet it was among the fastest and most stable cars on the track seeing off a couple of caterhams, a lhd M3, imprezas, elise and a 911 turbo. A couple of the RWD cars spun in front of me as the Clio...
Does anybody know the minimum standard allowed for a trackday helmet. The cheaper ones comply with a EU standard, then there are BS standards and then ACU gold.
Can I use open or full face.
The track day is by Track action if that helps.
Any advice before my first trackday with the 182 next week. This is my first FWD car for six years after trading in the scooby and im a bit concerned about the handling on the limit. Any tips on car preparation, tyres pressures etc.
