I've read your thread on the car, think i'm actually following it.. Looks awesome!! proper good job!.. and woww!!!! the power unit is some engine p**n!! That's my plan too, keep the engine standard, upgrade all the suspension then build an engine on the side too.. One of my best mates is an...
Nice one cheers @NorthloopCup thats got some good info!.. haha!, boys and there toys!, we don't change as we get older do we!... just spend more money on our toys!.. how long you been working on yours?
Haha obv course! everyone does that right?!.. I'm sure i posted a pic of me a while ago in the lounge doing a similar thing with my race suit on! 😂
The HTE seat width is 420mm so the gap between the harnesses is about 450mm just to ensure the belts aren't rubbing against the...

I have changed the seats I am going to fit form earlier in the thread... I initially was going to fit a pair of OMP 'CHAMP' seats. But rethinking what the car will be used for (potentially some form of racing) me and my mate decided to sell them and buy a pair of 'HTE Fibreglass' seats...
Cheers @GrahamS I really enjoy doing all the fabrication.. I wanted to put my own stamp on the build. Yeah its been a huge advantage having access to all tools etc! :)

Again, thanks for all the positive comments
Just been sorting all my pics out from the last few months, so going to wrap up the cage fabrication in a few more posts. Then hopefully I can start to post some more interesting build pics and bits!
After the last post I just needed to finish...
0.5bar will still increase your compression ratio from:
Standard CR - 11.1:1
0.5bar CR - 16.5:1
which isn't mega low IMO. (It would be 'very low boost' if you had a lower static compression ratio like most forced induction engines have)
For comparison the McLaren GT3 cars run 8.9:1 static CR...
1/2 bsp sounds a alot better... Least your pressure gauge is post oil cooler, so yeah if it didn't activate your audible alarm It was probably fine.
What boost are you running when you say 'low'.. have you done anything with the compression ratio?.. like you said, guessing standard rods/bolts...
Sorry to see the engine in bits mate!!.. never a happy sight...
Just to back up the comment James made....
When the oil is cold and the thermostat is closed, the oil can bypass the oil cooler and flow straight to the filter and into the engine.. however when the oil gets hot enough that the...
Well best way to check if its the damper is to swap them side to side and see if the noise swaps sides too.... could be a rear axle mount bush or wheel bearing if not
I had the same issue with the purple bushed sleeves. The tack weld failed and caused a lot of play in the wishbone......
I made my own sleeves and fully welded them in though, problem solved...
Couple of decent tacks on the black bush sleeves would give peace of mind though
Who manufactures those springs?... they have 6 coils! never seen a rear spring like that.. they normally have about 4 coils!
Your springs look like they have a really soft spring rate to be coil bound like that too
This is what I was expecting to see....
There is no relevance on 'bolt spacings' on clio rear dampers, so I don't know why they have written that!.. If they are for Clio Mk2 rear axle and shortened then I'd say there fine and ignore that comment on the website.
as you say it would be more critical on the front as there are multiple...
If the dampers are bottoming out then YES, correcting the bump rebound distances will affect the ride quality
If the dampers aren't bottoming out then NO, correcting the bump rebound distances won't affect the ride quality
It doesn't really matter where the piston is inside the damper tube, it...
Hi Mate, Have you got the Spax lowering springs at the rear too?... The OE dampers have a set travel (based on the standard ride height). When you lower the car the damper goes into bump (approximately the same amount you have lowered the car). Therefore you reduce the available 'bump' travel...
Hi, do you have any pics of the spring installed? (this will answer a lot of questions)
If your coils are spring bound it won't be long before you end up in a ditch! personally I wouldn't risk taking the car off the drive.
Changing dampers won't make a difference either, they don't add any...

With the harness bars in i turned my attention to the seat subframe rails. I removed the original seat mounts as they were too far forward for where I wanted to put the seat. I also wanted them to meet the latest tech regs...
