Day 5:
Started ok from cold again!
Makes a noise like a boost leak at over 1bar boost though.
Saw another guy in a 159, he waved, lol didn’t know people did that with these!
It’s currently at Kwik Fit having a £20 air con re charge.
Cast your votes whether you think that’ll work...
Popped the bar off the actuator and manually held them open.
This is a photo of a carbon'd up one with the swirl valve open!
So as you can see, even with it open they are basically blocked. No point getting it off to clean with the EGR still active either.
Day 4 update:
Locking the swirl flaps open has fixed the cold start issue. So I might put off the £700 cam belt and inlet manifold replacement until the belt is due next year.
Considering it barely starts in the morning I’m taking it as a win.
I’ve locked the swirl flaps open tonight, it’ll be interesting to see how it handle cold starts now!
Also doing that left it with:
OSR: Pirelli P Zero - 6mm
NSR: Pirelli P Zero - 6mm
OSF: God Knows - 2.5mm
NSF: God Knows - 8mm
All that done while spending nearly 5k on other stuff!
Yeah I don't get the logic.... This cars last MOT was £1100... in that was an £71 235/40/19. I mean, you are dropping a grand, another £70 odd for a decent tyre can't hurt...
None as yet..... It better keep working, just ordered some new Michelin's for the fronts! I have no idea what brand the tyres are on the front, they are both different makes and one of them has just got a web address on it lol
The 1.9 is found in Fiats, Saab’s and Vauxhall’s! Same with the latter 2.0.
The 2.4 is a 1.9 with literally an extra cylinder, it was too long to fit in the other chassis so only Alfa used it.
It’s quite a quick engine once rolling considering mine is leaking boost from the swirl flap spindles!
Well after the thread I posted about wanting a cheap diesel, this is the outcome...
Bit of background, I’ve always loved these. I mean just look at it. I do just over 30k a year, over the last two years over put 62k on my RangeRover so it’s now worth zero, to stop to being worth a negative...
+1
My frustration came from the power delivery, low down it was like a restricted 2.0, high up it got going but always felt muted.
Plus on track (Blyton) I was consistently 2 seconds slower than my friends, standard bar a map, Meg 250. 2 seconds round Blyton is loads. So much so I made us swap...
For sale as I’ve not really done much with it. Drove it today though and was awesome!

The car not being finished is yes.
The aggravated trespass isn't. The minute those locks were cut they are fucked. If I were Bloke, I'd be pressing charges just out of principal.
