My MPSS on my M140i did some good off roading the other week when I got lost. Flooded roads covered in leaves and mud. Proper country lanes with grass running down the middle. Only when I got to a bit there it said "Horse drawn carriages only" I admitted defeat and turned back. Serves me right...
^^ This. The guy who sprayed my E34 manage to match 30 year old red paint, you wouldn't know where he painted.
This does look smart now, looks a very good example of one. Like the simpleness of the engine bay, getting rid of the normal inlet makes a big difference!
This is always fascinating...
Very smart. Looking at this reminds me I need to clean mine, it's filthy from all the awful weather we have had.
Like your number plate on how simple it looks, need to get one sorted myself as I still have the dealer one on. What is worse is the numbers are like cracking where they have put the...
I rate these after owning my M140i for a year now. I wouldn’t say it’s a track car or such, but a very good GT car as it just eats the miles up. Great on the commute, now seeing over 32mpg after 9000miles. I thought the leg room in the back is better than most, I’ve got a three door but it is...
Don't tempt me....yet!! I know I would regret selling it, just as I did my old Ph1 despite that being ruined, but very well looked after. Is it yours by any chance?
Some very nice looking Ph1's posted recently.
I do often question if I should sell my BMW E34 to fund another Ph1 and use the sale money to restore it to a good OEM+ condition, I am sure it would go a long way! Looking in this thread does not do me any good!
Just googled it and the first thing I saw on Wikipedia was "it was designed to resemble a mk2 Jag" based on a Micra. I don't feel as conned if they were intending to look like that.
Briefly caught a glimpse of this and thought that’s a Mk2 Jaguar, I’ll go take a proper look.
I was seriously disappointed when it turned out to be Hideous. I think it’s a Micra that has been through the 1960’s badly.
Isn’t the knocking on breaking/accelerating the exhaust hitting the subframe? I’m sure I read that it’s common for this to happen. Definitely happened on my old one.
IIRC there are two "genuine" 850 BTCC replicas which were the press cars Volvo used for marketing and promo. Again if I remember right they were just running shells and had no engines in but identical to the ones they raced. About 10 years a go we nearly bought one with an aim to put an engine...
I went into the dealer when I bought mine, arrived the next day.
Weirdly if you go phone up Renault in Gloucester for parts you go to the Renault dealership to collect, if you walk in to order they send you to the Ford dealer up the road to place the order. Strange.
Genuine Renault ones are good value and far superior in quality. I had a ECP one on my old Ph1 and it started to stick within a year or two. I swapped it for a genuine one and I think it was about £30 but can't remember.
Another tip is I found it easier with the inlet manifold off to fit as...
It was the first time I heard it this morning, so will see if it continues. Got to go to BMW this week anyway to pick stuff up for my E34 so might ask about it then.
Is your exhaust rattling yet? Mine has started after 4000 miles. Once the revs drop on start up it’s fine. Going on that rate it will need to be fixed 10 times for the period I own it which is mental, unless the replacement parts they use are superior and do not break.
Not quite a Clio but has anyone restored glass head lights? The ones on my E34 are a little dull and new ones are rare and expensive so was going to polish them up. Before I possibly waste my money on some smaller heads for my DA polisher is there anything better? Something like the 3M kit I’ve...
I was pleasantly surprised with the room in the back of my 3door, it is as if it is designed as a 5 door and converted to a 3 door and not the other way around, if that makes sense! Although my mountain bike, with wheels off, takes up the whole back of the car
From what I have been told it is a visual inspection and they don't go looking for it. But if there is evidence of it being removed, or a bad job then yeah they will fail.
I can get 32mpg out of a longer motorway run on mine, but the engine is only 1000miles old so I am hoping it will improve. I was pleasantly surprised although I didn’t get one with mpg figures in mind. Better than my old Octavia vRS.
Also when did they stop doing manuals? As I was told back in...
I’m contemplating putting an LSD in mine, but think it would go to waste as mine isn’t used in much anger. Would be more worth while chucking one in my E34.....then I’ll do the M140.
Ahh nice 40mpg, looking forward to getting mine close to that over time, but seeing as it is barely 1000miles old it is still running in. I don't care about mpg figures. My other car is an E34 535i which barely gets 25mpg on a good day. However it is satisfying getting large mpg figures out of...
I do notice it yes when going over speed bumps in sport. I can’t compare to other systems as I’ve not driven anything like this before. I’ve not driven mine anywhere near it’s full potential and I don’t think I’ve even turned it into full yob mode, just the first sport mode which caught me by...
ahh right, I don’t have the cameras on mine. I was worried that it was the active suspension as I have that and it’s not obvious you have it, only when you edit the driving mode it says “drive train and chassis”. Nice interior, wanted that one but not an option any more, same with a manual...
What is the button next to the gear stick? Top is traction control, next two are to change driving modes and the one at the bottom I don’t know. Mine doesn’t have this button so wondering what it does.
No current track cars, but have had or shared owned with my step dad and brother:
* Triumph 2000 with a 2.5ltr BMW engine
* Porsche 944
* Clio Mk1 RSI, which was mum’s daily car and we “borrowed” it to take around Combe, she asked why the back seats were not in it and we were caught
* Fiesta...
