    Golf GTI Brake Advice

I can supply you. Usually I'd say go for the plain Brembo unless you really want the looks or need the extra cooling of the Xtra discs. If you want a little bit more confidence on braking bite, keep standard at the back and pep up the front a little to give some more initial bite.

Need new suspension for track car, but which

Bilstein race suspension. I'd argue they were too stiff even for most tracks. Made them dramatic to watch though but a softer setup is really needed for 99% of people.

Need new suspension for track car, but which

Heres the stuff! For the cost they are rather great value for money. If its a dedicated track day car then 9 or 10kg fronts will be what you need. BC dont rebuild the dampers. You just get a replacement and swap it for the old one. Ds ones are £120 each currently so about the same cost as you'd...

    Mk3 coilovers

Just use your original drop links. If you are running super low you may need to figure out whether you need a custom or can get a universal one.

It will fit. I can match the price on the kit if you want it. Drop me a PM if you do....

    balanced and lightened crank

You would certainly get conduction through the bolts. I've seen some on an old supertouring car with a PTFE gasket and a fancy O-ring seal setup but I'm guessing gas speed is high enough that its never been a worthwhile pursuit for main stream parts as the gas barely has time to absorb heat as...

Spring Rates - Standard vs. Aftermarket

Easy enough to get made based off an original spring. Not sure there is the interest. I could get them done (if someone could supply a set to copy) but I would have to make 25 sets to keep the price down. I'm not sure theres the interest...

    balanced and lightened crank

Ohh like PTFE gaskets. I've been asked to sell them but I can't find any data they make any real world difference to offset the extra trouble of sealing them

    Bilstein B14 Vs GAZ GHA

Lol. Even companies like AST recommend 12 month servicing for race suspension but who wants to do that :D You could buy Leda as they are not gas presurised!

    500bhp N/A 4 cylinder...

never forget the gearbox as a torque multiplier and the importance of revs in combination with short ratio transmission. Its why diesels are rarely fast like for like vs petrol unless rules skew things in their favour.

    Saxo VTS oh my lord....

This is going to become your best friend! https://www.kamracing.co.uk/universal/rust-treatment/acf-50-anti-corrosion-fluid.html Seen some horrible rot on the front turrets but sounds like you have a good one. Save it from winter driving though!

    balanced and lightened crank

But on the flipside. Modern cars are internally balanced so these are more to do with noise and vibration. Helping the car be more refined. With our Renaults I dont think theres been any long term assessement of removing it but its probably not a big deal..probably. Not a massive gain either

    Bilstein B14 Vs GAZ GHA

Yeah I can sell springs separately. Off the top of my head they are about £35 each.
  17. Kev@KAM

    balanced and lightened crank

Its an interesting one. Somewhat unrelated but this was popular with my car - Toyota AE86 - one of the tuners ditched the full solid setups for ruberised again stating they were more trouble than they were worth.

    Bilstein B14 Vs GAZ GHA

They are 400lb front, 285lb rear (now i've looked it up on my website :D)
  19. Kev@KAM

    Bilstein B14 Vs GAZ GHA

They dont claim to be stiff. I sell the Bilstein B14 as a fast road kit - thats in a nutshell what it is. The front springs are reasonably firm but its how this is in relation to the rear spring rate. As the rear is softer (and certainly significantly compared to GAZ) you have a car that is...

    balanced and lightened crank

Balancing the pistons, rods and crank etc can help on the harmonics and allow more sustained high revs. You can reduce the mass from the flywheel and clutch if you really want to save a lot of weight. Moving to a small race clutch and flywheel probably saves 5 kg or so vs standard. No change out...

  22. Kev@KAM

    Bilstein B14 Vs GAZ GHA

You are looking at the wrong axle :D For a FWD car the rear roll centre is arguably more critical. The Bilstein uses a 275lb spring in the original location. The GAZ uses 300lb springs as a coilover which is almost double the effective spring rate.

KAM Racing - go silly or dont bother project build

Slow updates... We are going with the bearing housing in between the exhaust manifolds. Its drastically better for driveshaft angles. What do you do when a high temperature bearing is not high temperature enough! Apparently they are only rated to 130degrees centigrade so I'd call that a mildly...

    suspension advice

You are best off staying away from coilovers, though the Bilstein B14's are excellent if you want to go that route - with great damping on rougher surfaces and tough weather protection. Springs are a little softer. We do the Grams springs with Cup Dampers - they should work on both track and...

    ilya's 172 #BECAUSE_RACE_CAR

Not their cheaper ones. Those flex under braking (or certainly used to) I went for Alcons for my car but unsprung weight is a great way to stabilise the chassis over bumpier parts as the suspension can react faster to the changes in road surface. Even your spring brand can make a difference :D...

    MeisterR coilovers any good?

MeisterR are not likely to develop these for a while (If they decide its viable). They are developing and testing some new parts apparently which will potentially impact their whole range so new kits are on the back burner somewhat as their whle range would need tweaks to the design to...

Just to clear this up. For some bizarre reason Powerflex sell this as a 'Kit' not per bush like 99% of their other products. So you get delivered one kit - but that contains two bushes.
