Rather than create a new thread, just thought I would ask on here. Have tried to search but have no luck.
Fitted a new alternator but the battery keeps running flat, suggesting that it’s
actually the battery that’s had it or there is a power drain somewhere. What’s the best way of ruling one...
Alex originally boosted my 172 cup a few years ago when he worked at ED. Just picked my cup up from him this weekend (now that he’s AW Motorworks) and he’s fixed a lot of issues on my new Cup. Rough idle, diagnosed as being mistimed engine. Now runs like an entirely different car. Brilliant...
I’m a Graphic Designer / Web Dev by profession and had only ever used Mac before starting at my current place where I now have a decent spec desktop PC.
Have to say I was anti-PC but have kinda grown used to it. I find myself almost preferring it for designing in InDesign, Photoshop, editing...
Updates on the car as it is at the moment - boost is back! here's a little step by step of it all coming together again in the new shell. I've learn't a heck of a lot doing the majority of this work myself although I did have help with the wiring back in etc.
Still to do are brembos back on...
I actually contacted KTEC last week about this. Apparently they are planning on re-stocking the carbon splitters in gloss finish but I wasn't given a date as to when that will be.
Car looks fantastic Kyle. Loving the engine bay. I’m hoping to fire mine up for the first time in 5 months next weekend. All being well we should meet up before end of October and get some photos!
I haven't been on here in sooo long. Where do I start.
The boosted Cup is no more. A slight mishap on a corner saw to that. We'll leave it at that. The good news is that I'm building another boosted cup using the old parts.
Anyone able to advise on oil coolers. Should I get an 82 degree...
Hi mate, I'm currently running Cup turinis (ET 38.5) with 10mm spacers and using Brembo 4 pots from a Meg with 280mm discs. I use my ET37 2118's in the summer and they need at least 10mm to clear. Even then the calliper sits incredibly close to the inside of the wheel, so much so that I had to...
From the top of my head not including things like tyres, servicing etc but including tax, fuel and insurance it’s working out at roughly £360 a month. The majority of which is fuel. That’s probably small change to some of the ballers on here but not to me lol
Thanks to @Mbeau for the Cup subframe. Collected Thursday, fitted today. The swap was painless enough (although as you can see it wasn't me doing most of the work.) Glad to have had a ramp to work off of!
It's now got powerflexed wishbone and anti roll bar bushes as a bonus. Car isn't in a great...
Not updated here in some time. New job in the middle of nowhere and using the Cup as a daily has really taken its toll - but the weather last week has just about finished it off for the minute. I've bent the subframe and I'm after a new one. Anyone know if the 172 Cup has different subframe /...
Lovely car. Tempted to sell up and get one myself. It's the thought of fuel costs that's putting me off, which defeats the point of owning one in the first place.
Bit of an update... the car had been over fuelling for some time and running like a bit of a dog. It only made 215bhp on a recent RR day. Couldn't find the problem myself so booked it in with Engine Dynamics for the week. After chucking the car on the dyno to see what's up and trying a few...
New job means i'll be doing around 1300 miles a month. The cup currently does 250 miles to a tank of vpower = too much money!
So whilst the Cup stays i'm looking for something comfy that will return 50+ mpg and under 6k price bracket. Any suggestions?
I've got a thing for C30's.
I also have the Grams and can echo what @Christopher. has said about them. They're very similar to Cooksports from what I can remember having had them on a previous 172. They're far superior to the Eibach Pro Lines I used to use as well. In truth there's not a lot in it between the two imo.
Little update but nothing major. Turinis! Not as fond of them as I was before the 2118's but they've got a couple of thousand mines left in them before new tyres are needed so why not!
Was also curious to see how it sits on the Grams springs with 16's.
Cheers Keith! that was one of my concerns with the B14's and with coilovers in general what with the roads being as bad as they are. If it was a weekend toy i'd reconsider.
Cheers mate. I'm up that way sometimes but i'm actually a bit further south.
Good point @welshname they are on my to do list but the car drives ok for the time being. Certainly getting some in the future!
Thanks mate, appreciate it.
Yeah still on the grams at the moment. I really rate them tbh. Just as good as the cooksports on my old Cup. would love coilovers but the current driveway situation is already cutting it fine. Go too quick and you scrape the splitter lol
Little update on the car as it's been a few months. Car has been running rich for a while now so booked in to be checked by ED in November. No changes to the car other than xenons. Mixed feelings about them. On a Cup it doesn't look quite right, but as it's back to being my daily now it helps to...
