Ill agree with that, the trophy actually feels stronger than the misses 182 that's just clocked up 90k.
i really couldn't fault the engines willingness on track at Bedford on Saturday.
For those running a gripper diff, what ramp angles/rates have you opted or, and how do you find it?
this is for a purely track dedicated car, its road use is going to be between nothing and extreme minimal.
cheers.
Gotcha, I half expected you to say Quaiffe but wasn't quite sure.
i do indeed know Steve, very knowledgsble and helpfull chap.
I'm pretty certain he helped me out with some bits for the mountune roller barrels I had on the escort.
Renewed my discs and pads on the rear the other week.
borrowed a friends wind back tool and it wasn't even needed, they wound back with ease.
you will know if you are winding them the correct way within half a turn, it's that clearly visible ;)
I wouldn't have said I have a handling issue chip, other than a little understeer on a few tight bends.
to give an idea of my lack of braking, I was carrying as an average between 90 - 100mph through the chicane down the back straight at Bedford.
if behind another clio for a few twisties I foud...
I'm the same, in an ideal world I'd have a set of AP's under there, but the wilwoods was a small step at the time, and they have done well for near on 2 years, maybe with the car developing and I gain more confidence I'm just finding the brakes need to be giving that little bit more.
Chip, i...
I found that on Saturday aswell Chip.
I've actually started to get brake fade with the wilwoods so I've started looking at the Alcon setups.
going to try a different fluid and pad grade first and see how I get on.
the brake setup has done many laps at the ring and no sign of any fade, until...
Cheers guys, I appreciate the responses and opinions.
it certainly wasn't a bad shake down for the car, I've come away with a little 'to do' list before it hits a track again, certainly a few thing that will help the car and me for future events.
i certainly wasn't badgered by any other clio's...
I think we both share similar views on the RSOC of late, it's certainly not what it was and its living in the past with some of its rules and regulations.I didn't renew my membership last year and I had been an RSOC member for aprox 14yrs.
I also stood down from my regional committee last year...
Nah, not going backwards, the trophy is as far as I'm prepared to fettle with a car again, I can't do it so much anymore with my back issues, and I don't think I could have a MK1 again.
been looking at '08 plate 530D Sports as a family car and maybe trade the black 182 in for a 197 for Kim so...
I think it was Oulton i first met you when I came up with the black clio and the infinity escort had the gearbox issues a week ahead of TA, fun times!!
Focus is okay, doesn't really get used so its up for sale for something else.
Black 182 is still on the driveway, although its seriously...
Mine are et43 and i run them with a 5mm spacer, so they are basically sat as tho they are an et38, for me it's a perfect look and plenty of clearance when cornering hard.
I'm sorry I missed your question.
at this stage I don't know, but there is plenty more i want to remove before I go and find out.
hopefully over the next couple of weeks ill get the car over to the Infinity Racing HQ and get the car on the scales to find out.

So much easier to fit a wheel with aswell, no more trying to balance the wheel as you line up a bolt.
with a few different wheels and tyres, they will be getting change quite regularly and it's a pain trying to do them once, let alone time after time.
I'm putting off a few interior tasks until the inside is painted properly, but I can't get that conquered before Bedford.
next will probably be fitting the wheel studs, and I've just spoken to my welding mate to see if there is a chance of taking the car back over to him Monday to see if we can...
Today, after a big if running around picking up the trailer and then dropping the Escort off for its new straight cut box and GT30, we finally set a couple of hours aside for the clio.
roof lining now gone, a few cables re-routed, cage finally bolted back in properly.
Tracking is pretty much just the toe.
alignment IMO would include any camber/castor adjustments that can be done (if possible)
full geo setup would be setting the heights, maybe even corner weighting along with the above.
as a guide these days, a lot of garages charge £30 per adjustment.
So...
Ash, I'm assuming you have removed the ABS on yours then buddy?
easy enough task, parts easy to source for anything that needs to be changed over?
and mainly, other than the benefits of no ABS on a track car, but was there much of a weight saving to be had from doing this?
I have one, although I've only heard it on tick over so far, seems nice and quiet so far.
i bought mine off a guy on here who had used it for a few months, nice bit of kit but needed a little fettling to make fit properly, so I'm assuming the previous owner had tampered with it or buggered...
Mark, don't ask, it's one of those 'K-Tec' things.
For some daft reason the panels are moulded that way, and the handle sections don't even line up properly as the moulded sections are about 3/4" further forward than the factory position :(
a bit of jiggery pokery with the dremel to elongate...
