Managed to get my Cup onto the alignment bay this evening. Was originally way out of spec with the NSF have loads of toe in and the OSF a bucket full of toe out. Set both sides to 7' toe out and feels much better.
Onto buying more bits to cobble my own exhaust system up next!
Fitted Mtec grooved discs up front with new Mintex pads. Thoroughly cleaned the carriers up as they were rather crusty. Also made sure the sliders were nicely greased up too.
Then spent what seemed like forever persuading the bleed nipples to unseize and managed to do a brake fluid change...
Had a good day on Sunday sorting the headlights out, not 100% but a shed load better than they were. Also treated it to a wash too.
But on Monday my gym bag was sodden after sitting in the passenger footwell, looks like I have a water leak into the interior. So I'll be pulling carpets out and...
Currently having a dinner break halfway through wet sanding and polishing my headlights. Never done anything like it before so bit anxious to see how it turns out. Got 1500, 2000 and 2500 grit paper and t-cut headlight restoration kit.
Wish me luck!
Removed those little spacers from under the driver's seat. Didn't notice too much difference other than it being more awkward to slide back and forth now. Cured an annoying rattle from the passenger door too.
Was yesterday, but gave the Cup/shed a wash, polish and wax. Looks much better in the pics than in reality, I don't think it's been a loved car with any of it's previous owners bless it.
And yes I know the wheels and exhaust aren't clean, alloys are too far gone to care about cleaning and the...
I managed to get a hold of some FirstLine ones in the end. Fitted them tonight, bit of a mission for some simple ARB bushes. I'll post the code up tomorrow once I recover the packages they came in so other people can save some money.
It was roughly £10 for all four bushes, but there was probably...
How much did Bram Racing charge for that? They're relatively local to me and although I'd probably be able to get my alignment somewhere near myself I'd rather pay someone else.
I picked up a Ktec stealth back box and some ARB bushes for mine today
What's the general concensus on these? Mine are in need of replacement and all I can find so far are genuine Renault ones at around £40 for all four or powerflex ones at around £50. Seems a bit excessive for 4 little pieces of rubber that are only a few quid for the normal Clio's. ECP say they...
Had a similar thing and it was my steering rack bushes. Changed them to powerflex ones and it's not happened since. I'm sure new oem ones would be fine also.
Been a long old time since I properly washed a car what with the other half living on a farm and me owning sheds for the last few years, so kinda forgotten the exact routine.
When the time comes to wash the Clio, I think it's along the lines of:
Wash with whatever shampoo I've got - think it's...
Wasn't today, but yesterday I did a quick oil and filter change, was well overdue judging by the state of the oil that came out of it. Looked to be a new filter though that came off it. Fitted a new Exide battery and Bosch wipers all round. Found out it needs some tie rods though while it was on...
I had the annoying clunking/banging when steering, especially during parking manoeuvres as well as vague feeling through the steering and the wandering fighting feeling when getting on the power. Changed the tack bushes for powerflex ones and it's mostly gone. Well, the noise and wandering has...
So, finished work, jumped in the car and drove off then noticed the serv light flashing. Car runs fine, no other lights on or flashing at me. Haven't got the owners manual at all, but would I be correct in thinking it just wants a service rather than anything sinister rearing it's head?
Replaced 2 x front side light bulbs, weren't blown but were a bit dim.
Replaced the blown number plate bulb, cleaned up the unit as it was full of rubbish and applied a liberal amount of contact cleaner to the pins and unit as there was some oxidization on them.
Fitted the Fatty's style...
If its within a reasonable distance of crumby old donny I'd be game. Provided t'other half hasn't got something organised for me that I've not been informed of yet!
Fitted the Renparts upper gearbox mount yesterday. Had some fun and games with the large bolt being seized into the bush, but got it done. Pulled the engine forward a bit on reassembly and it seems to have cured it. Hopefully the supplied Ocap bush will last a fair while. Still not happy with...
Tyres make a massive difference I found. Swapped my worn yokohama and budget combo on the back of mine out for some Uniroyals after spinning at less than 20mph on the way to work and I've not had an issue since. Have to be actually trying to get the backend to slide now rather than it randomly...
Don't ever buy an audi then! I fitted some RS6 front brakes the other day to one. Main dealer prices of around a grand for front discs and pads.
Think a basic service on an Audi runs to over 220 quid just for an oil and filter change, silly money.
I see DDC in Doncaster do a 172 Cup belt...
I'll probably end up getting that and some Autoglym Extra Gloss Protection as I've used them before on my old Honda which was a similar colour to the Clio with good results. Still got SRP and some Jeff's Werkstatt stuff from then too.
Fitted 4 x Uniroyal Rain Expert 3's after having the slowest ever spin on the way to work the other day. Then gave it it's first wash in my ownership. Need to get a clay bar, quick detailer and some wax ordered so I can give it a good going over after discovering all the demons that lurk beneath...
