I do feel it's surge in popularity for this reason is going to eventually kill it.
Years ago it was just used by the few who could understand how to install it on the few devices it could run on.
Now you can buy all these terrible builds on all sorts of devices.

Been watching a Firewatch play through on YouTube. The story, visuals and musical score are incredible so far. It's starting to take a darker turn though..

Going by the hype I don't think anything is going to compare to fallout 4 though.
I enjoy watching vids of people playing on YouTube. Mainly because I haven't got a console or gaming pc or the time to play myself.
I do know what you mean about the over excitable ones though. But to be fair that's probably why they're doing it and not us. Having some unexcitable monotone...
