I think you’re confusing these people with Jake Paul lol. There’s lots of quality channels I watch on youtube, I never watch normal TV. Harry is one of my favs, I even watch his farming channel too. Driftworks is one of the better ones IMO as they’re all really down to earth and some of the...
Love driftworks YT channel, it’s not about drifting. It’s mainly Phill’s cool toys (Lambo GT1 build, GT3, 964 911 turbo, v10 M3, M3 CSL, E30 M3 etc) and the clio track action now with Jay & the Craig from dynotorque in his mini (plus some vids on restoring his Pajero Evo) The Aston Martin Craig...
Lovely car, it’s pure clio perfection on the Turinis
I really must get some Turinis for my car.
I get the track car tyre choice thing but 15’s just look so wrong to me.
The alternator comment was for the timing belt.
I didn’t remove the alternator but just tilted it out the way. Can’t remember exactly why but pretty sure it’s in the way of being able to remove part of the alloy cover the engine mount bolts to.
Just done mine the other week, It is a really tight job.
One important thing is to make sure you get a new aux belt and tensioner too. Also, check your crank pulley before you start, mine was quite perished on the rubber damper part so held me up waiting for a new one.
Soak the alternator...
Yes the horn is grey plug. Don’t whatever you do use the metal clip for the horn if it touches any metal connection to the earth on the horn part. It does look like it might be isolated from it though?
The black plug is for cruise control
The clio needs two airbag resistors, you’re better...
ha, like me with my STI. I only bought it as it was a nice car and don’t really like the colour. Everyone tells me how nice it is but I wish it was sonic.
Unfortunately ‘mint’ nowadays means a different thing thing than it used to. “It’s mint mate” is a statement that usually means avoid as it’s knackered.
The air con machine should be able to add some oil to the system.
I don’t do air con at work so don’t take this as gospel but looked up my 172 on our computer. Said it takes 130ml of oil, but then our air con machine can only add two digits so not sure how that works when replacing a...
My main POV on the engine is the reliability of them, especially for a French car. They are really solid engines.
There’s not many cars that would put up with years of kids beating on them with no doubt poor servicing and then be turned in to track cars & take a thrashing over n over on track.
Trust me, working in a garage watching much more modern cars get welded every week... 1*2’s don’t really rust unless they’ve seen action.
I think a lot of the rust issues are from damage. The shells are galvanised and it only take a tiny bit of damage to damage that coating to start the rust...
They were seriously under valued a few years ago IMO.
As a pure driving experience you couldn’t buy anything for similar money, I’ve no idea how they were ever so cheap. I guess the sheer amount of them.
Think it helps that Catchpole runs one, Harry has a trophy, bovvington (is it?) has one...
