Colour Coded Mirrors were standard on all RS's. They should also be heated too, so if an owner before you has replaced them it looks like they've gone the cheap non CC'd, non heated option.
Could be wrong but I think so, its also called a cabin filter... it sits between the fan motor and the air vents. Also if your vents don't blow much air bit the motor is running on full that can indicate a blocked filter - leaves, dirt etc.
Even with a coked up cat and possible dodgy lambda I still averaged 43.7 on the last tank in the RB!
Have you thought of looking at your driving style? Could it be better?
EDIT: just realised its a 1.2. 8v I assume? They're renowned for pathetic MPG... however I still suggest the above.
It might not be the hole in the mirror but the gap where it pivots I.e to push the mirror against the car.
Try changing the pollen filter on the car, that might help thr fogging issue.
T'was a hoot :)
Will be totally happy when all the niggles are sorted with the RB, but yes, VAST improvement on looks and handling from the dogbus, and not a huge difference in mpg's :)
Sorry I had to shoot off early, Mother was turning up to see the new arrivals!
P.S apart from Tom did...
No friggin way. If you do it will undoubtedly have issues, whether they be injectors, turbo, valve seats, or cat c or d...
If you did, as said before it'll have done a million miles, be a 65 base model and just a dog.
