Just had a catch-up on your thread, fair play mate it has really come on, must feel great to finally get it out on track.
Interested to see qhat you and @robzracing are thinking brake wise, I still need to sort my brakes...
I posted a link to it further up.
I do have another spacer (like the one on the bottom bolt) but i didn’t want to add it and make the bracket more wonky...
However it is spaced out on the top bolt with that washer, it may not look like it, but it isn’t touching.
UPDATE:
Pretty miniature as I don't have any grommets to suss out hole sizes for fuel lines. However my new alternator mount did turn up today, so was fitted this evening. Has gone on a lot easier than the original item, the alternator is straight and the belt nice and taught, and more...
Thanks all for getting back to me,
Thank you, much appreciated.
This was my thoughts exactly, it is so tight there, especially to get a fitting only 20cm's from the fuel pump. You must have had some patience @Chambers_RS to get that in there.. ha.
I am sure someone suggested to me (I...
@Tomotek @robzracing @pule333 @Chambers_RS I have just been looking at all your project threads to see how you have run your fuel lines, all are different, which may answer my question.
I initially planned fitting a bulkhead connector in the rear footwell area but am thinking this may be too...
In my experience Mitch very rarely replies to text so I usually call him. I had my brake lines a long time ago (probably February/March and was not in a rush so didn't really experience any inconvenience. I know he posted something on instagram today of a load of envelopes so hopefully one set...
UPDATE:
As I anticipated I didn't get as much done as I initially wanted, not necessarily for reasons I could foresee last week however.
I spent a lot of time friday night final checking the routing of the brake lines before then deciding where all the P-clips were going, these were then marked...
Black to match the rocker cover and strut brace. Checked the length and it should be spot on - approx 170mm
Nice and compact. Should solve all the issues and leave me with the original as a spare
I have a genuine lower bracket, its just massive and bulky so was just going nice and slender.
Good a as a spare though, alternator adjuster bracket like the above now ordered
Not your fault at all mate.
That would be the cheapest option but I am not 100% happy with washering the top mount, how the aternator is sotting so hi and the fact it feels slightly twisted.
I am ordering that new mount which should solve all these issues.... #hopefully
It is also lots smaller...
Been advised on one of these, https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Renault-Clio-16v-Williams-GpA-PAS-Delete-Alternator-Adjuster-Tensioner-Bracket/283129531179?hash=item41ebd5cb2b:g:jbAAAOSwa-dWpgHn
Could solve my issue and also mean I don't need to run the washers on the top mount also.
UPDATE:
So a tiny bit more done again tonight. The thought was hopefully to sort things with the engine and the lines the tail end of this week and Saturday and then get the engine back in Sunday, but some personal things are going on that have to take priority - probably for the better as I am...
More facebook heresay....
Having looked at the top mount tonight it does not sit flat with the block, it sits on 3 lugs therefore a plate across the back of it probably won’t be of any real benefit over washers.
If you are spacing the top/block mount out then surely that does the same? (in my head anyways)
I wouldn't hold out hope of Rsport being able to provide any more items - apparently this was the last bottom mount they had when sold a fair while back.
But as mentioned in the initial post...
I think that may be a better idea rather than just using a couple of washers. Luckily my neighbour is an alloy machinist, it just may cost a fair bit.
Yep cup alternator
That looks pretty different again, you have a torque bolt, almost looks like a cross between the original mount and the one I posted. I wonder if the block mount is different to the originals.
Do you know what this was from?
UPDATE:
With the the rear brake lines away and waiting for these to come back I turned my attention to the couple of small jobs I needed to do on the engine (as once the lines are done it will be ready to go back in the bay).
The engine was serviced with a new cambelt a few months back, the...
I am running full phase 1 fuel set-up (tank, pump etc) which means only the one line. Engine wise it is ITB's and mild cam's
Sounds like a good idea Mitch, any support to the customer I am sure would be welcome.
As you say you are available on the phone (which has been great, always polite and...
I wasn’t planning a fuel regulator but this is a very very neat job. Glad this routing will work. I will just need to check the length is there.... ooohhh errrr
I noticed pretty much everybodies ran around the front of the shocks, but these simply won’t go. I must admit I was less fussed about...
UPDATE:
With above in mind I set to running the interior brake lines. I wanted to get these all marked up and taped before I run the fuel lines I will then do the same for the fuel lines and then drill and mount them all together. (images shown from the rear to the front)
Rear (spare wheel...
UPDATE:
Outstanding parts from Pro-line turned up yesterday along with some sweetners.... I could now look at finalising routing.
I must say I am glad I am being OCD about this and checking everything rather than just going gung-ho at it. It seems the brake line saga continues slightly.
I did...
FUEL LINE ROUTING
So before I finalise where I route my brakelines across the bulkhead I need to decide where my fuel line will come into the engine bay and it would be great to hear any advice.
I am running the fuel line through the interior (passenger side of exhaust tunnel) and it will then...
