I run a Stack fuel gauge that can be calibrated to work with different senders. It's in the back of the car so you can see it when filling up.
I think instruments are a tough one in a way. You could argue about how much information you actually need while driving the car and whether it's better...
I just run an SPA tacho in the Escort, then a couple of cheap gauges for oil pressure and water temperature. The fancy screen ones are nice, but not sure I could justify the cost.
Like the right up from the 'ring. It's an amazing place. Watching the on-board made me want to go again!
The car sounds really good. What's been done to the engine/exhaust.
I love the phase 1 styling. I love how they look slightly thrown together. The front arches are somehow more obvious. It looks a bit more rough and ready.
I do see what you're saying, but the pot isn't the point, it's the competition. It would be nice if it could be made so it wasn't quite so much about money. Virtually impossible in reality though.
Satrias hey? It's MG ZRs round here ?
Yeah about that. I think it would go some way to sorting things, without penalising too heavily.
You're right, there is a lot of infrastructure for Escorts. I guess it's a time thing really. The Escort generation will disappear eventually. DR is definitely helping!
Yeah they're undoubtedly an icon but, while the rest of Europe looks back on them fondly, moving on to new cars as they come out, rally folk here just seem to think everything else is s**t and stick to the MK2s ?
I don't think FWD vs RWD is the problem to be honest. The real issue (in my eyes...
They'd probably be the most popular 2.0 car out there if so many people didn't think anything that was built after 1980 was s**t lol.
Rallying in this country is stuck in the 1970s sadly.
I've not been able to drive one yet, but have sat in one. Interior is massively better than the old car. I think they look better outside too, as they look a bit wider, whereas the old one looked a bit tall. I think it's a bit of a shame they've added drive modes and the like though. Part of the...
I've not driven a 200 Cup, but I owned a 172 Cup for four years and have spent quite a lot of time driving a friend's 197, which isn't really that different to the 200 in reality. My observations:
The 172 feels a lot more raw and exciting initially, mostly because it's a bean tin with a...
Look forward to it ?
And nobody is perfect I guess ?
Interesting stuff. I always imagine the Civic to be quite a heavy thing, but I suppose there might not be loads in it, and it's more cost effective to get power from the K20 it seems.
Will be very interesting to see the comparison.
That sounds like a good excuse for a video! Out of the two, the Clio has always appealed to me more, as it's smaller and, I would assume, easier to get it lighter. More parts about for the Civic though I suppose. Engine and box are probably better too. Both are better than my car regardless lol.
Sure I saw an ad for that Civic somewhere. Be interesting to see how they compare. Seems to be plenty of bits out there for them. Any idea on the weight?
It's no surprise really. For many, the 90s is the pinnacle of performance cars. Loads of motorsport-inspired, homologation specials, all the motorsport heroes like McRae and Burns in rallying, while the BTCC was also at it's peak. Cars generally were starting to become reasonably well-made...
That looks nice, especially in white. I did look at them at one point (albeit earlier ones), but went for the Megane instead, as I'd been craving one. Would imagine these are probably a nicer daily prospect though.
Which engine does it have, as it looks like quite a new one? Did they fit the...
Got a couple of SJ Cams. They're alright. Never really done a back-to-back comparison with a GoPro, but can't complain for the money.
I'd like to buy something better really, as I want something that can take an audio input from my intercom, but it seems a bit of a minefield really.
Nice. I wish more circuits would do rally track days. Would be such a great way to get people into the sport, rather than the tired old idea of trying to get people to do autosolo etc.
I've got an entry for the Snetterton round of the MSN championship in Feb, so need to finish off a couple of...
It seems to me that the Clio Cup has perhaps lost a bit of its gravitas in recent years. The field shrunk quite a bit when they changed to the MK4 didn't it? Though it has grown a bit since I believe.
