    Cant see the photo as I'm at work, but there should be a plastic clip on top that you pull up There's some guides in the guides section too!

    I read it as he brought the car in 2011 so could have been anytime since! Might be worth taking the car to a specialist to get a second opinion on what's happened. 3 years/20k isn't enough wear on the belt to cause it to snap so there must be another contributing factor in play
