You can hear it with the ignition on, it isn't the fuel pump. Sounds to be low in the engine bay. It doesn't go away when the engine is started. You can also hear it inside the cabin. It must be electrical.
Just bought a 172 from a garage.
As part of the sale they did the cambelt. I want to check that they have.
Anyway I can have a look at it to see if its a new belt?

You get good and bad versions of any 7 style cars. I've seen factory build caterham's that look like children have built them without the instructions! Then again i've seen Robin Hood's with a better fit and finish than more...
Will feel painfully slow without 160bhp+ when driving normally.
From 50mph my mates 106 GTi was faster.
If i were to build another one I'd have a nice 2.0 on bodies with about 220bhp.
