    D90 Video Flicker

Be interested if you find out anything more about this. 24fps is the 'standard' for motion pictures, so they might have the same problem!

    Bath by Night (with Fireworks)

Just got back, mightily impressed with the 18-200. Throws backgrounds out of focus nicely, and is probably as near to an all-round high quality lens for walking around as you are going to get. Certainly felt like I chose the right lens (rental was about £29 for a week iirc, I just got it for the...

Cliosport Photography Challenge Round 15: Autumn

Just to pre-empt an moaning ;), I'm well aware I need to sort out a poll, but I have an unbelievably busy couple of days to get through first, I wouldn't expect anything until next Wednesday.

    .tribeca Autumn Photoshoot (sans Clio)

Awesome, you've found the most American looking street in Britain, I reckon. Change the plates a a few background details (such as signs) and you would never know.

    Bath by Night (with Fireworks)

I've just hired an 18-200 VR for my Paris trip this weekend, can't believe how tiny it is! Bit slow compared to the 50mm but hopefully the VR will claw back a couple of stops. Never used VR so that will be interesting.

    Bath by Night (with Fireworks)

ISO800 seems to be the sweet spot for low light, not too much noise and what there is looks quite nice and grainy anyway. The ISO3200 shot is the biggest surprise, as you might be able to tell from f1.8 and 1/30 that I still needed, it was pretty much acting as a night vision camera with...

Great news, I think you will find it's more than worthwhile

    Bath by Night (with Fireworks)

I was shooting at 50mm, and very close to the fireworks, so there was no way I could get them in frame.

    Bath by Night (with Fireworks)

Gave the D90 a good high ISO workout this evening, had it in my bag and just grabbed it for some 'smash and grab' type shots whenever something interesting appeared (the sort of thing I like to do in the daytime), the beauty of this was that I could do the same in darkness as I could in the day...

Motorsport Photography, looking back on 2008

Amazing improvement over a very short space of time. It really is all about the practice, there are no shortcuts. The BSB Raceday Take 2 (wheelie shot) is where your images really jump up a notch in my opinion. Shame about the creativity vs. saleability thing (although after seeing the sort of...

RIXPH...and a Vee at Aldi (Trowbridge)

Followed RIXPH home today at around 5:40pm, I was heading down to my house (Paxcroft Mead) and was a car behind you. Also, guy sat in a Blue V6 in Aldi car park on his mobile phone whilst my other half was buying some massive fireworks.

Nope this is 'normal' photos in Paris, all good fun!

My Nikon D90 Review / Samples

It is unbelievable, main aim for the next year or so is to just get a really good experience-filled portfolio together, so all these little jobs/competitions are doing wonders for that. To be honest I don't really 'get' it, I sit on Flickr and am blown away by the stuff I find on there, so I'm...

My Nikon D90 Review / Samples

Cheers peeps, comments always appreciated. All going slightly mad at the moment, been offered some all expenses paid freelance work in Paris this weekend and then have some work for a car manufacturer coming up as well. So so chuffed, it's been reasonably quiet compared to last year but it's...

    Some nice HDR shots

I'm probably never going to 'get' it, but most of those in the OPs post look absolutely horrific imo. The VanillaDays pics are a bit better, but most are still very obviously HDR. I appreciate the concept as I understand that a camera sensor simply cannot record what the human eye can see, but...

    Went shopping today...

On the resolution thing, I really don't think it's something you need to be concerned about, I've been quite lucky in terms of things published etc in the past 2 years and 'only' having 6mp was never once an issue, even for the double page magazine spread (A3), pictures don't get published much...

My Nikon D90 Review / Samples

Body only for me, couldn't stretch the extra £120 for the kit lens, but I don't think I would have even if I could afford it, would have rather put it towards a Sigma 10-20 or something.

    Unexpected capture

That's exceptional, great capture and the subject is nice and sharp too (unusual for these sorts of shots) What circuit, out of interest? You look close for 55mm!

My Nikon D90 Review / Samples

I've always wondered what/why that is. I always shoot at ISO200 but my really slow panning shots on my D50 were full of noise and grain when viewed full size (as if I was shooting at a much higher ISO). There certainly is some noise in these shots but the conditions were awful; horrible murky...

Porsche Club Day @ Castle Combe

The heavier the better for me (within reason!) when it comes to panning, particularly as I don't use a monopod and 99% of events are in annoyingly strong wind in this country. The 120-300 is pretty much on the limit, but especially now I have a grip it's a really nice balance.

Porsche Club Day @ Castle Combe

Nothing of great interest here, but thought I would share a few photos from the couple of hours I spent at Combe today as I bought a new camera, and unless my eyes deceive me these possibly look a bit better than many of my previous photos, just something about them...

My Nikon D90 Review / Samples

I have a Close Up Filter (a +4), essentially just a magnifying glass that screws onto my 50mm 1.8 and turns it into a pretty reasonable macro lens. Very cheap and effective. Never really given any thought about the gaps to be honest, I've never had anything that fills the 20-50 gap (I only took...

My Nikon D90 Review / Samples

Body only, so just got the 50mm 1.8 and Sigma 120-300 2.8 at the moment. With Christmas/Birthday money I'm hoping to get another Sigma 10-20 before I go to New York.

My Nikon D90 Review / Samples

Agree with most of that, won't really make any difference to the majority of my photos (I never expected it to) and to be honest unless you spent megabucks and went full frame I don't think you would ever really notice a huge difference. Most of it is down to making everything quicker and more...

My Nikon D90 Review / Samples

The other thread turned into some completely unrelated Canon warfare, so I'm starting fresh with my thoughts on the D90 after two days of use as I know a few people were interested. Obviously this is all compared to the D50, so I've never had Live View or anything remotely technological before...

    Went shopping today...

I promise this is my first and last naff/boring/pointless Windows Movie Maker vid (hopefully get Premiere Elements or something soon...and some decent subject matter), but it gives you an idea of how stupidly easy it is to make effective footage... bfOBuTf15Vs...

    Help choosing new camera

Easy answer: Hold all the cameras in your price range. You will probably answer the question yourself after doing that. Photographically they are going to be essentially identical, none of them will give you better pictures than the other.
