Ive got these on my 1.2 after having 40mm for just over a year. For the price you really can't complain! They gave me some lows and the ride can be rough, but not the point where id get rid of them. You can deck the front, I've got mine as far as its save to where I live. The rear is as low as...
Not insuring it is out the question for me, Im not a moron.
As stated early, I think ive seen sense and after chasing about possible insurance its clear I'm better just buying a sport.
HIC got back to me. Next year when I'm 21 it will cost me £1879 to insure a coversion, with coilovers, exhaust system, and my other modifcations. In comparission, it will cost me about £1500/£1800 to insure a standard sport with admiral (current insurers).
Ive just got back from speaking to a guy on here who said he would be able to do a full conversion if I supplied the parts, like the donar car, belt kits etc etc, everything needed. Its not really the price of the conversion now. Its all the legal side of it and insuring the b*****d. Id imagine...
I wouldnt chance not insuring it. My main reason being the fact that I am currently training to be a Special Constable, with aspiration at being a full time Officer! I also don't fancy loosing my license and everything else that come with getting in an accident and being non-insured.
Even on my 1.2, Ive replaced both hangers and its literally as high as it will go and it still looks low by the cat. Maybe make sure that your cat and manifold are all tight??
Thank you for that reply, very informative. After that the K-tec conversion doesn't sound 'to' bad lol. I think i'd still be mad to do it though over getting a nice example of a 182 and getting it exactly how I want it.
Well it would either be a RB or LY 182 for me, or depending on prices the same colours in a 197, but yes, the debate continues, but thats another matter!
Not overly fussed on gagdets, but would rather a 182, prefere the look, I like the twin exhausts. 197's are coming down In price I noticed......... :rasp:
:) Well ive got an image of how id want it to look in my head, so I think id run with that and Id have a nice little project again, like ive had with my 1.2
I think, as mentioned I wont be doing the conversion myself because I dont have the technical knowledge to do it, nore the time/space etc. So although the idea of having my 1.2 shell with sport power is a nice idea, I think id get over having to get rid of it when I have a shiny new LY sat on...
To be honest, after reading all the comments, I think I have swayed towards to putting my money towards getting a 182 in a colour I love and going from there. I guess it will work out alot cheap, especially on the insurance front.
I know its so much more than an engine, Im fully aware of what the conversion will involve. I was wanting to get peoples opinions and ideas about some of the question regarding, places to go and insurance etc.
