Had a spare day today so dug the d/a out and give the clio a once over.
Fallout remover early doors whilst temp was low, blasted off, snow, 2 bucket wash, dry. Clayed, taped up, quick correction with an orange hexlogic & CG V36.
This removed quite a few swirls and scratches, did not go too...
Mine is tight against the bearing without the washers, cant fit then unless you started bending the bracket and none supplied, i assumed they have been omitted on later shifters. Bolted it up without and had no issues.
Looks sweet. I have been looking for a clio van for work, and most are about knackered now, looked at one this week and the arches were rotten and needed loads of bits sorting, seen an 08reg one with low miles and that had rusty arches too. Yours looks 100x better nick
Jack the front right up and leave the back on its wheels if only doing clutch, always plenty of room. Need a decent jack to get it up to height any of the smaller jacks will struggle.
Buy a full chip clone clip off ebay, around £120ish. You will need an old Xp or win7 32bit laptop for the software. Avoid the cheapest under £100 clone clip as they crash and break easy.
Noticed a fair bit of black smoke on turbo spoolup recently..initially i couldnt really be arsed looking into it, air filter is new and it was acceptable enough for 143k. Anyway got up early today and whipped egr and boost pipe off, not looked at either since cleaning both when i got the car...
Make sure you have the crank pin in when the flywheel is on the 0deg mark on the bellhousing, as easy to pin the crank balance hole instead of the actual tdc slot
It will spring to a different position with no horseshoe or cam pulleys on due to the valve springs and valves opening. Do it as per the workshop manual
You can reprogram the airbag ecu to get rid of the steering wheel airbag with can clip. I have a 300mm momo steering wheel and boss for mine, cant decide whether to fit it or not ! Prob best off fitting an early clio2 indicator stalk with horn button on it as you will lose the horn.
Still quite a few mk1 2.0 meganes kicking about could probably use the bottom end with your head

I had the rattle on hard acceleration on mine initially in 2nd gear, was highly annoying. The selector rod was catching the subframe slightly with engine movement, so get underneath, slip it in the gear thats causing issue and check clearances. Adjusted it and fitted vibratechnics mounts, job done.
Small update on the Extra van, head built up for the new engine. Piper valve springs, Titanium valve spring retainers and phosphur bronze bushed rocker bar fitted, a few small mods done to the head too. Will get the can in and timed up next weekend, head on and in the hole in the next few weeks !
I think the arse has fell out of the Recaro Trendline. My mate recently had a set that were absoultely immaculate for sale for £650, took 3 months to sell and i think he took around £500. Nearly bought them to replace the weathered ones in the Kangoo, but seemed like a waste:LOL:
I think they...
You should be able to disable airbag, abs and asr lights off the dash with clip. Leave rear lambda in and resistor in carbon canister wiring to keep eml off
The Meganes are great, handling and power good, go for r26 if you want mk2, or cup model in mk3 so you have the lsd. Downside is quite a lot more expensive to run compared to the clio, parts are expensive and not great on fuel.
Changed the turbo on Monday for a used ebay £40 special. No pics as oily as feck diesel, compressor housing seal was on its way out and leaking oil onto the cat and into the boost hoses making it a bit smokey on boost, and siren noise on spool indicating out of balance. I fitted the turbo 25k...
Vibratechnics top engine/gearbox mounts are sound for road use, when fitted properly/broken in. I have a purple powerflex lower dog bone fitted with the vibratechnics, hardly any vibration or engine movement(y)
Rear cup shocks go straight on, cant get away with fronts sadly. Mine is on sachs oem replacement on the front as originals were knackered, seem ok for road use.
