Now there's a boost hard pipe taking the place of the original induction run i can't put an air filter where it sat before with the K Tec setup (behind the passenger headlight) i've removed the injector rail guard to make way for the induction hard pipe run so where the new filter sits now is...
So, the final night tonight. I've just arrived home after seeing the last pieces being fitted, the induction run and the phase 1 fuel setup. I'm not that arty with the photos but here's a few showing the finished engine bay with the air filter setup. Now is the next step, mapping, although my...
I did think for at least 1 minute maybe I shouldn't do this to a Clio in this colour...... And then thought doing a supercharger conversion would only make it better if it's done tastefully. I like to think that everything I've chosen for this project has made it look just right.
I don't think you will go far wrong with new OE dampers (172 Cup?) and Cooksports, the spacers will IMO give it just the right look. It will look perfect will all that fitted as well as a tidy wheel refurb.
You know how much I appreciate all the work you've done for all my Clios over the years :D
Indeed, just the fuel sender unit I paid for nearly 2 weeks ago and still nothing. Naming and shaming next week sometime if they still don't reply to my texts.
Aaah ok, I appreciate that Danny. I have 4 restrictors made with different diameter holes that I can play about with on mapping day if needs be.
The induction setup I have is pretty much the same as Doms on his Clio bar the air filter make.
Looks really nice, I'm impressed with all the work that's gone into this. Agreed on the wheels, for some reason the OE 16s with a nice drop seem to suit the Monaco really well.
So, the final pieces of the conversion jigsaw finally fell into place today. After so many phone calls, texts and PMs I've managed to sort out the fuel system setup situation. Today I did a 110 mile round trip to Kent to make sure I had all the parts in my hands and know 100% they were all good...
As we had half decent weather here in Southend I decided to finish the induction setup side of things. It's all in 76mm compromising of 90 and 45 degree silicon bends, in between that I've also bought 76mm alloy hard pipe to use as joiners and as a hard pipe section to complete the induction...
Thanks Alex, it'll be sods law a phase 1 will come up to break next week! Fingers crossed the problem is solved, I'd still like a second fuel return line as a spare though just to be on the safe side. I spoke to a mate last night and he mentioned kit cars using nylon fuel lines and nylon...
Not really much left to do really, the last week has been spent ordering the final pieces of the induction setup. So a 76mm 45 degree silicon bend and air filter all sorted. The absolute last part of the jigsaw has been the biggest ball ache, running the phase 1 Clio 172 fuel setup comprising of...
I paid £1450 for 99% of the kit, things like air filter induction run and spark plugs were missing. Along with the sundries such as the genuine cambelt kit, Valeo clutch, fluids, change of boost hoses, jubilee clips I think I'm up to about £2300. This also includes treats like the Forge silicon...
incy-spider this is the right oil isn't it?
I popped into Renault earlier with the invoice to the parts department to have a word, they couldn't apologize enough for the error and even offered to change the gearbox fluid free of charge. Of course this isn't going to happen but a kind gesture...
I'm going to pop into Renault shortly, you'd just assume going to main dealers they would give you the correct oil having all the info to hand.
I've just ordered the phase 1 Clio 172 fuel return lines so hopefully they'll be in by Tuesday or Wednesday. I've also purchased a second hand fuel...
All cool hence the reply, you learn something new as they say. I'll have to speak to the parts guy again, maybe he'll give me the right oil heavily discounted (or free) due to an error on his behalf. I'd rather know now than have something go wrong out on the road. Appreciate you pointing it out :)
Appreciate this mornings lesson :) I wasn't to know, I have to assume when I'm buying sundries from a main dealer they know what they're talking about and go with what they tell me. On the other hand I know the Clio uses Type D coolant so I'm ok when ordering it.
Ok I'll have a look, it'll mean the bumper back off and to try and re route the hose run with the reservoir in a different location. I'm not sure where I can mount it as room is tight. It's that Dom has run his charger conversion for 12k with the reservoir setup in the same place and assume he's...
Morning Dan, oil reservoir? Do you mean the pot with the blue lid? This is in the same place as where Dom has his located. Regards oil do you mean the Rotrex traction fluid? That's handy to know as I've been told it's around the £100/l mark
Spent a few hours this evening in the workshop, I made sure the kettle was on and coffee was made. My job is to supply the parts for my mate who's doing the work, so in between anything being done on the Clio I'm running about picking parts up and ordering.
A follow on to the restrictor post...
I really appreciate your comments :) and everyone else for that matter. I'll be at the workshop later today, tonight we'll be plumbing in the boost hoses and fixing the FMIC and oil cooler in place (amongst other small bits) so more photos to follow.
Without measuring pulley sizes and working out ratios to find the pulley for the bhp, restrictors will do. Out of the 2 options it's going to be easier to swap over restrictors while it's been mapped on the rollers to reach the target bhp. All i have to do is remove the 90 degree silicon hose...
