As said in your other thread, its probably not TDC if you have a spark. If its sparking and still not firing, then I would put that down to being starved of fuel. But you said in your other thread that is had fuel on the plugs so that doesn't make sense. Are you sure it was petrol on the plugs...

^^^ See bold bits. pot holes etc causing the threads to slip on the rod ends. Easy to do your self with the string method :)

have you tried rocking the car whilst in gear to release the starter motor just in case it is stuck? Not sure what that loose wire is for...

+1, its so easy to do provided you have a long socket of the right size to get the fuel rail guard off (2 nuts).

its not worth it. Your aren't going to get any driver noticeable gains, except for heat in the summer! Air-con compressors only really put strain on then engine when in-use, not when idle.
