I had one of them ( don't think it was the checkmate one just the JCW ) behind me on my run to work this morning in the Fiesta ST and it went well esp in the corners not so much on the straights but then the ST is running a tad over stock :)
Small update when the car went in for the engine swap I removed the new O2 sensors and have now installed them in to the new engine but the new set up only uses x 2 one pre cat and one post .
New Denso units
Old units
Just looking at the new engine and weight of the car it...
TBF it does a dam good job but if the road is rutted or damp or you are an oaf with the throttle then it does have trouble even with a Quaife LSD so it is impressive that the M140i can put all of that to the ground .
That torque is crazy I have problem putting down 320 LB/FT I know the M140I is RWD but I take it you need throttle control to get traction and stop the wheels spinning .
Yes I was after finding out more about it on track but that can be something for next year .
I may give it a go on the dyno as most of the conversion with the extras make around 195-200 BHP and around 145 LB/FT but we will see but feels quick enough even after driving my 306 BHP fiesta .
Regards
Is the M140I quicker in a straight line than the FRS do you think or about the same .
No 4WD so is throttle control is needed to help get traction and get the power down .
No as much as I like FWD and the Celica this is much more capable as a track car and throw in a low kerb weight ( now 900 KG ) and the sweet chassis and you have one fun track toy and still cheaper than an Elise even with all the bits done so far .
I do really like the 2ZZ engine it is very much like the V-tec units I have had and feel like a special engine super sharp throttle and very rev hungry and tie this up in a 900 KG car it is very fun and dam quick .
Ok I will give you first dibs if I get rid of it but that will not be for a long...
Big update time
I dropped the car off at Rogue motorsport to have an engine swap done so taking out the stock 1ZZ 138 BHP unit and putting in the 2ZZ 190 BHP engine .
For those that don’t know Toyota did two ZZ engines a 1ZZ that had 138 BHP and 125 LB/FT 7000K RPM and was more for economy...
No the Elise parts unit in the below .
Again not cheep but very well made and was working well on my old 1ZZ .
https://www.eliseparts.com/products/show/94/990/baffled-sump-toyota/
I hope it will all be fine as instead of doing it on the cheep or with an ok company I have gone the hole hog and gone with the expensive option along with changing a few bits on the engine like the oil pump but nothing is bombe proof .
TBH the stock 1zz 138 BHP unit was still not that bad and...
Update time
Just got back from dropping the car off ready for the engine swap and a few other bits at Rogue motorsport .
The old 1ZZ engine is coming out along with the old C63 gear box then having the LSD removed from the old C63 gear box to be used in the new C60 close ratio gear...
Yes launch is not easy nor is second gear as I can get this to spin the wheels in the dry at will so you have to use some throttle control in second .
In gear is fun and the below shows that they are quick when rolling on a stage 3 tune ( not keen on the vid and the Fiesta in the vid is running...
Very small update
The Mountune rear badge was looking a little faded so I thought I would replace this with an new Collins one .

Apart from that the car is running great and is...
Did not know we had so many knocking about on here all look great and a good mix from FWD , RWD , small and vans :)
Would be good to see how many we can get on track next year at one venue for the day .
I still have a few bits to do to get to the level of the above cars ( engine swap next...
