The standard seats really are very good. Supportive, comfortable. I'm 100% happy I ended up with non-cup suspension, brilliant everyday compromise, and still great fun on track. Shame they don't do them all with the quicker rack.
£800 for yellow trimmed seats that wear badly? I wouldn't bother personally. You could buy them aftermarket in a far nicer trim, then sell them when done. Would cost less overall (including selling them after).
The wheels improve things, but make the stupidity of White mirrors/front fin look even worse. Amend those, and it'll improve no end.
I know the spec is good, but I couldn't live with that colour scheme personally. I saw a rb today, looked very good. Cup spoiler etc.
I like a lot of it, but this
is a f**king mess. Matt finish roof, silver boot spoiler, gloss black cup spoiler? Shocking. Should of had the boot spoiler wrapped as well.
Whilst the actual emissions are, as you say, very low, I don't think that's why they do it. F1 is at the end of the day, run by the FIA. And they have other interests than motorsport, and F1 as the main public face has to tow the party line.
Problem being, it tends to hand the advantage to the big teams with the biggest r&d pot. Imo, the engines don't need changing. Fix them for 5 years, then allow updates such as kers etc. Such a change requires packaging changes, cooling changes etc. Massive expense.
But as ever, f1 doesn't make...
No. Easy to say, because it's been so long since someone died. But the current risk is enough, let the designers go banzai and they won't be able to protect the drivers enough in a high speed accident.
I for one would be happiest if there's never another death/serious injury.
The engines are...
It does sit closer, the back of the wheel seems chunkier. Feels nicer, if you don't want to go aftermarket it's worthwhile. But doesn't compare to a decent aftermarket wheel. At all.
