Right all, the New Year is now here. I'm fat, im sure the rest of you have put on weight over xmas as well ... We need to get 5-a-side booked in again.
I propose Tuesday 12th January 9-10 pm at Staines Leisure Centre as previously.
Let me know asap so i can get it booked :D
FLOL, reminds me of when i went to Germany last.
Sarah: Whats all that rattling in the background
Me: Im driving through the carousel dear, you remember im at the 'ring all week ...
I think people are missing what Warren and i are trying to convey.
For us, its not about speed, its about driver involvement & the challenge of wrestling a car around the corners. Whilst we are both merely offering a different perspective to that which the OP is used to, this is clearly a...
I love FWD, & can probably peddle far quicker in it, but RWD offers a far greater challenge for me. As such i find it considerably more rewarding when looking for that ultimate drive.
The OP needs to experience a good rwd car, like a £8k Elise or M3, then consider whether a Clio 182, even one...
No i haven't, but id hazard a guess and say that its still a very accomplished & predictable FWD car, just with extra wheelspin & power?
Or does the £4k include a conversion to RWD?
It will & the cynic in me awaits the 'for sale' thread.
Sorry, but I'm old, been there, done that, watched others do it & got the t-shirt.
Trust me. Just buy something faster. A 250bhp clio is still a clio, its still only a challenge up to point & you will get bored of it. Fact.
Whats actually the problem with it at the moment? Just bored or looking for more of a challenge. A clio with 250bhp will only be challenging in that it will unset the lovely chassis. It'll still be FWD and easily manageable/boring after a while.
Personally, id sell yours & buy an e36 M3 Evo...
It upsets me that you have a turbo'd 172, an engineering feat in itself, but dont know what oil to put in it lol ...
I suggest speaking to either Opie Oils, or the person that built your engine.
Buy a cup, then do the following:
Fit Ferodo DS2500's, Brembo HC's, braided lines, dot 4, espace v6 airbox with ITG filter & purchase a ktec stealth when the original exhaust falls off.
You dont need to do anything else whatsoever imho. You will simply make it worse for everyday driving and...
You clearly bought a nail, i've had 2 clio's:
182 - 19k in 4 months, not a single problem
172 Cup - 26k in 12 months, 11 laps of the ring, not a single problem
Would happily have another one.
You're obviously not a fan of steering feel or driver enjoyment then ...
Clios are great, just make sure the cambelt, etc has been done - its a good £350-£400 to do on a normal 172, ie one with aircon.
:rasp:
Well, last night there were 2 sets from Newcastle on there:
£140 complete
£105 with 1 damper missing
Was just going to 'buy it now' on the 1st set & some bugger on Sax-P beat me to them ... Then another set appeared a moment ago in Suffolk, so i snaffled them!!
God knows where all...
Shed ;)
Suspension wise, ill put my Bilstein geek hat on now if you like ...
Iirc, the rear B6/B8 shock is actually the same, ie B36-2075, it is only the fronts that differ in length, so:
B6 (front) is 30% uprated over standard, part no. P30-3060
B8 (front) is 30% uprated & shortened to...
