I’ve got a standard road car too, another, identical 182 Cup in fact (which I need to sell at some point). That’s what’s making me question the track car. It was a big chunk of money to build the first time and although it was great on track and would be again, it was awful on the road so it has...
Hello guys, it’s been a while since I’ve been on here but I thought it was probably the best place to get some decent advice.
A good few years ago, I built a track car, which turned into a race car, got damaged and I planned to re-shell.
I bought the replacement car quite a long time ago and...
Jacked it up today to check everything over, nothing seems particularly untoward except there is a tiny bit of play if I hold the wheels at 3/9 o’clock and wiggle them.
What I think is happening is the wheels are pointing the right way most of the time but under acceleration they toe out which...
Nah, pretty sure it’s not the camber of the road, it’s also fine on rutted dual carriageway, it’s literally only with a bit of left lock on when going straight over a roundabout back on to the main bit of the road.
I’ll check the tyres but I’m pretty sure they’re right, good idea though.
I’ll Jack it up tomorrow too and see if there’s anything obviously with play in, hoping it’s not the rack, that’d be a pain!
Drove my Clio today, in the rain, and when coming off roundabouts with any sort of throttle (I mean at all, not just full throttle), the steering wheel pulls to the left and the car under steers like crazy, almost as if the tyres are bald.
The tyres are fine, decent tread on them and pressures...
I had one on the car before but it’s installation was a little bit untidy, just a 13 row oil cooler under the front bumper crash bar with rubber hoses to the low pressure side of the rack and the PAS reservoir, worked well and stopped the fluid boiling over but looked terrible.
This time round...

No, never. Not in a million years.
Racing in itself isn’t that expensive but when it goes wrong it goes really wrong and then it’s a lot of money which you need to spend right away.
Just track days for me!
PMS shifter ordered, wanted one before but never got round to it so now is the time.
I’m pretty certain that’s all I’ll need other than some consumable bits like brake fluid so it should be pretty easy from here on.
Looking for first hand experience only really, as I’m considering buying one but want honest user opinions...
I’ve seen a couple of people complain about extra noise in the cabin but I’m not at all fussed by that.
What I really want to know is if the lack of a return spring on the shifter to...
Looking at the receipts, he did, the garage just couldn’t find the issue, I feel a bit bad for the guy to be honest but one man’s loss...
I bought it assuming it needed an engine so having a spare is a definite bonus, the old one had cam belt and water pump a few miles back though so this one...
Old build thread here - https://www.cliosport.net/threads/ctcrc-pre-05-race-car-build-claudetheclio.746562/ - ended in disaster, a bent car, financial disaster and a broken marriage!
So, the obvious thing to do was start again, right? Almost... I’ve bought my share the old car with some of the...
Well they make somewhere between 190 and 210bhp depending on the variant, plus 230bhp in the Clio V6 ph1 and 255bhp in the ph2.
The thing they do make is torque, 200-220lb/ft against the 150 in the F4R.
the argument is there for all the engines I've seen used before, the Vauxhall one makes...
Before anyone says, yes, I know there's little point as the F4R makes fairly similar power, give or take 20bhp, to the Renault V6 ins non Renaultsport form, but... over the years I've seen all manner of V6s in little cars and the one thing I've never seen is a Clio with one in the front.
It...
She went for Performance Friction PF08s in the end, swapped to Brembo Max discs too, they're a lot better than the Pagid so will be sticking with them as the price is pretty good too!
So... Snetterton
She qualified 3rd in class, had a reasonable start and then this happened...
Still, she finished 3rd in class so got her first trophy
All 'repaired' for race 2
She had a blinding start, was leading her class then misread a mechanical warning flag so came into the...
I'm using Brembo Xtra discs (same material as Max but drilled not grooved) I do have some Max discs and another set of Pagid pads in the garage, I'm reluctant to try then just in case they're no better, it'd be £200 odd down the drain if they're not.
Well... I printed the bed in procedure and stuck it to the steering wheel for when the Mrs took the car to Snetterton. I'm assuming she did it correctly and she says she has!
Ok so we run the Clio in CTCRC Pre 05, the regs say you have to keep the original caliper and original disc dimensions but pads and disc design are free (providing they're one piece)
We've been using Pagid RS14s which were recommended to me by the guys at Bremsen Technik who used to supply...
Totally forgot to update this!
Did a test day at Snetterton, had a minor ABS issue at the bottom of Corum (minor as in it stopped working completely) and flatspotted two brand new R888s, major facepalm as they're so difficult to get hold of now!
Anyway, we made it to Donington, car was...
Does anyone have one for a 182, which isn't coloured in?
There's one online but it's blue and seems to be shaded so doing blocks of colour is nigh on impossible for my feeble skills.
So the corner weighting was done, collected the stickers from Cadwell today (and met a few of Anna' future competitors) and she's out at Donington tomorrow in preparation for race one next month!
Stiffer springs fitted, nightmare job, need to invest in a nut gun I think.
Also fitted some longer studs and some spacers to the front to allow for more camber.
Car is being corner weighted on Friday.
Transponder left to fit, external pulls for isolator and extinguisher still need doing...
