I'd assume they're all much of a muchness, but we used to run them on old smokey Vauxhalls and they used to do the job and were almost cheap enough to not be arsed when they eventually blew up.
As above, Megane HG to lower the compression if I actually do turbo it. Plus for the sake of 80-100 I'd rather strip the head down and ensure everything is OK - stem seals, clean the valves up etc. Part of me is tempted to keep it N/A and fit a set of cams and a different inlet as I love the way...
Work is pretty flat out at the minute and I'm only getting a day every now and again at home so struggling to make progress.
Started stripping the engine down to hopefully get it all tidied up. Belts off, rocker cover off, Cams out and then made a start pulling the head off. Also gave the...
Spent a few hours in the garage this weekend trying to get the car to a point where I can start making some progress.
I've got a provisional plan which is basically mega clean underneath, EPAS fitted, A/C gone and potentially low boost turbo as I'm looking to build this car over the next 18...
I've always wanted a flamer. I'm hoping to build this as the car I always wanted at 17. I've made a bit of progress on getting the engine out today which i'll upload some photos once it's out but i've been documenting bolt sizes and lengths etc so I can send bolts off to either be zinc plated or...
Hi AGAIN...
A few of you may recognise my username from previous cars. (I've had 17 Clio Sports in various guises, previously a Petrol Blue 182)
I spent a brief period (6 months) without a Clio on the drive - I bought myself a R53 Cooper S and just didnt 'gell' with the car so put it up for...
Hi All,
I need to refit the engine, subframe, steering rack and box back into my PB 182.
I've got an engine crane but i'm curious if it is possible to build the engine, box, rack and shafts etc onto the subframe and then if I lift the car high enough can I just effectively drop the car back...
I went a few years ago. Spent 3 days sleeping in the back of my car. Day 1 there was bugger all and I ended up in a bit of a huff. Day 2 and 3 made up for it as it was flat out. Hawks from Valley, Typhoons, Tornados, F15's and A10's from Lakenheath and Mildenhall. Just as I was packing up on the...
If it's the twisted dogbone that goes from the gearbox to the subframe - again - 10 mins.
If you're replacing that to reduce vibrations, I personally recommend the flo-flex dogbone mount. I've found the EVOL ones give a lot of vibration but are really good.
lower one in the passenger side wheel well that goes from gearbox to subframe - 10 mins maximum. again just suspend the weight of the engine / box with a jack.
Whilst there take the time to clean up the earth strap and ensure you refit it nice and tight as this can stop a lot of issues...
Upper engine mount is 5 minutes literally. Support engine weight with jack, 4 bolts attaching mount to the chassis leg and then I think 4 bolts attaching the upper cambelt cover. Pull the whole lot off then undo the 16mm IIRC nut in the middle of the engine mount then reassemble.
I highly...
A lot of Clios will rust on the edges of the bonnet.
Arctic Blue ones seme to be particularly susceptible to it from my experience.
In the past i've went to a scrap yard, got a bonnet off a bog spec 1.2 and had it painted.
It's still in a million bits in the garage. Got a new box to go into it as it turns out engine is ok, just flywheel was fucked. Haven't had the time or patience to work on it and get it back together. Got a week off work this week so hoping to get it running again.
Once it's sorted it'll be...
If you're that desperate strip the light unit down and install LED strip inside of it.
Is this my new business idea - refurbing cup spoiler tail lights ;)
The lad at work who owns Jamies old soarer reckons he's a proper tool. I'll go and view the megane video now. I cringe watching him on videos as it's clear he hasn't got a f**king clue.
What is this project you speak of ;) The problem with doing things like this as a day job - you can't be arsed to do them when you get home. I've had so many side ventures related to my day job (fixing macbooks, SMD Conversions on cars, fixing Pioneer CDJ's and so on) and end up knobbing them...
I left school at 16 and managed to find a good company to put me through all training. Just before I left them I decided I wanted off the tools and was sick of travelling and spent 6 months working in the design department as a trainee. f**king hated being stuck in the office and being off the...
DannyDC2 - He's just deleted some of his videos, including the left foot braking in his Volvo T5 which had footage at the start of him kicking it round country lanes. I suspect Plod may have got in touch with him about it as his number plate was visible etc.

I'm an electronic and electrical engineer. I'm on the service and maintenance side of things in the medical industry which is a nice mix of mechanical and electrical but i'm one of the only guys at work who can fault find to a component level.
I'd recommend JLCPCB who do 10 x 100x100mm PCB's...
I was thinking this as well, I remember getting it started once after the box blew and it seemed to be misfiring.
Part of me is tempted to just whip the box off and see if it starts!
That's what i'm starting to think. will look to do a compression test next weekend when I get a chance and if that is the case i'll pull the head.
Sad thing is, I can probably pick up another engine for how much it'll cost me to strip the head down and redo belts etc!
