Gearbox oil drained and replaced. Easy enough job with a long reach funnel.
Gear changes are a really smooth so happy with that. Still getting an issue where it doesn’t disengage reverse correctly so I have to wiggle the reverse mechanism and the gear knob to put it into first.
Butyl tape has arrived but doesn’t look like it’s needed. Had a lot of rain these last few days and under the seats are dry 🙌🏻 Looks like everything you guys suggested previously worked it just too longer than I thought to dry.
Thank you all 👍🏻
First time of doing this on any car. What do I need?
Purchased:-
- Elf NFX 75W-80 (apparently replaced NFJ & NFP) - 3 litres
- Funnel kit with long tubing
- Oil pan
Do I need anything else and any tips and tricks?
I think I can rule that out. If it was to come from the rear door cards I think it would be leaking into the rear footwell but it’s only under the seats.
Feel free to shoot me down but as one of the firsts steps I cleared all the crap out of both front arch liners. Could there be a similar build up behind the side skirts forcing the water in through a seal or something similar?
@Chocice was the base of you aerial noticeably lose? Mine seems to be tightly fitted with a timy bit of movement if I properly try to move it. I would assume it’s fine as I was expecting to find it lose enough for water to be able to get in.
Mine is bone dry on both sides. So if it is it’s a little trickle that might be coming through where the door seal joins but like I said I can’t see a trail of water or a clean like or anything.
I am going to check the aerial and door seals again then do t he door cards anyway if that doesn’t...
I have cleaned them both and pulled them off to check if I could see any wet patches or any signs of water and couldn’t see anything.
I will check again tomorrow along with the aerial seal.
I sealed the rear bungs as water was coming in there. I checked under the rear bench again today and it was completely dry. I can’t see any water strains in the headliner but I will check the aerial base. Thank you.
Did the water test and nothing coming down through the door cards.
I also checked the foam on both sides and it’s dry.
Weirdly the water is only going under the seats. Not in the front or rear footwells.
My car has been stationery for a week and every time it rains I am still getting a leak...
I only have damp patches under the seats, not in the footwells.
I have pulled the carpet up under the seats and there isn’t any foam so I’m hoping I don’t need to pull all of the carpet up and remove the foam…
I ended up purchasing the wheel above as originally planned and luckily managed to get it 2nd hand on the for sale page which was great. It came with a volantech boss and 2 button panel. All I needed to do was buy some airbag resistors from Ktec. Everything arrived within the week, so I wasted...
