Just got back from collecting the car.
it feels like a harder ride than the 182 with the AST's on their current setting, it goes well but i didn't really get chance to have a good play with it. Also it's the first time I've driven a car without power steering since I tried my brothers old mini...
Good news at last, I'm collecting the car from Matt tommorow.
So after 4 years its back together and on the road, really can't wait to collect it now.
It'll be interesting to see how it compares to the 182, with the extra work it should be even quicker i hope.
Only a small update.
After being messed about by the garage i took the car to, Matt@codered collected it for me a few weeks back and set about trying to get it sorted out. After a new driveshaft, new cambelt, correcting the timing, sorting out the interior wiring and clearing numerous faults...
Still not got the car back yet but I did pick up a set of 15" wheels
They only have cheap tyres on at the moment but I'll be keeping an eye out for some R888's or similar
Been back up there today and did the following :
Fitted new steering angle sensor
Fitted dash top
Fitted missing wheel nuts
Fitted rear bumper
Checked all bulbs
New front indicator bulbs
Polished headlights (well tried)
Fitted handle spacers
Fitted new earth lead
The car is being collected in...
Been doing some worrk on the car this morning
First couple of jobs i did was to finish wiring up the horn (just need find the horn button now) and fit the stereo blank
Finding somewhere to mount the Mocal catch tank was something i'd been putting off, after doing some reading on here i...
Was bored yesterday so popped to Brands for a couple of hours. Been a couple of years since i've been there, couldn't remember what settings to use at all andi couldn't get onto ukaskew's crash course guide on my iPhone.
Sussed it out eventually, plenty of room for improvement though :)...
Awesome pics
I took some at Brands yesterday for the first time in a few years, forgotten how much i enjoyed it, they're obviously nowhere near this standard though
Slowly getting through the job list
I managed to get hold of a locking wheel nut key which fitted, so this morning i got the last 2 off
In the next week or so i'll get a stud conversion kit ordered.
I got one of these a couple of days ago : http://www.saveonlaptops.co.uk/Lenovo_Z585_1352940.html
Not had chance to really test it out yet, still installing all my software and getting used to Windows 8
I've put a Sparco subframe on the seat in my 172
I hadn't really sat in it enough to notice how high it was until we got the car moving again, feels way too high
My 182 has Cobra extra low subframes and the seating position feels great, i might have to look into changing to OMP ones if...
This week my KTR induction kit arrived, i had decided to leave the battery in the front for the time being.
Anyway, after doing some more reading on here, i went up to the car today and ended up moving the battery by routing the cable through the bonnet catch cable hole.
Which left me...
I have them in my 172 and 182, not 100% sure if they're the same as these eBay ones (mine came from Yozzasport)
The 182 pulls very well but i've found it can be a bit hesitant at low speeds on the standard ECU
Well almost a year after the last update and nothing has really moved on.
I've been mostly waiting on my brother to help me out with the last few jobs (he's the knowledgeable one), but due to work commitments (amongst other things) nothing's been done on it.
May should be a fairly quiet...
I'll have to keep an eye on this thread, i've removed the PAS and fitted a DCi rack in my 172 but i haven't driven it yet.
I was going to see how i got on with it and then possibly look into fitting an electric column later on.
Mine needed a rebuild so i sent it off to APD along with the inlet manifolds for matching, headwork and rebuild (i'm running Schrick cams)
Can't comment on the difference in performance yet as it's still off the road but as Fred says it wasn't cheap
Hopefully i'll be doing this with my 172 in a few weeks time
Can you actually insure a car without an MOT ? Or is it okay without if you're going straight to a prebooked MOT ?
Here's how it looks today after a few long detours on my home from work this week.
I'll get it cleaned at the weekend, i've also ordered a suction camera mount so i'll see if i can get some videos when it arrives.
