I got a non sport 1.2 8V if I drive to the girlfriends (about 7 miles away @ 30mph) my temp gauge isnt even a quarter way. Think I may have an issue? lol thats about 20 mins of driving... How ever if I drive for about 30 - 40 mins thats when it gets up to temp

Disks are fairly easy to change (since your not used to that kind of thing, I would take it to a garage) and fairly cheap compared to most cars.

Also Try removing the battery and power cord from the laptop and then hold down the power button for 10 seconds. It may also be worth removing the CD/DVD Drive and Hard Drive if able to put the battery back in and power cord then power up the system without these in and see if anything is...

Yep,
Im the only guy he knows who is as good as computers as I am and he trusts me... Its a no brainer.
Since im a fast learner I told him I will do it all for him anyway computers... EASY... Server just need the basics in place for a decent enough simple small business network... File...
He's having me run his server and his computers. Employing me so I would rather know the system in and out for future references...

Yeh was going to mention that second connector wouldn't be the problem. Maybe taking out the CMOS battery for an hour to reset the BIOS. It may help it may not is it beeping at all the laptop when it starts?

A Good local motor factors mate,
Im quite lucky I have a paint shop about 3 miles away that takes your paint codes and mixes you aerosols at 6.72 a can. Rather cheap if you ask me
