Does the exhaust on the 172 go over the rear axle, i knwo the mk 1s do and that can cause knocking

Sounds silly but some people i know put the redex straight in to the air intake (by taking the filter off) and set the revs to about 4k. Sounds mad but actually did make it run quite well and got rid of a lot of cr4p out the engine... Not saying its the right way but worked for them!

Just a tip they are two sump plug under the car (one for the gearbox oil and one for the engine oil) make sure you don't get them mixed up! Could be disastrous!
