The only reason the Clio is an "enthusiasts" car is because they're cheap enough for lots of people to buy and modify. If everyone could afford a double garage an M3 and an atom for "fast roading" the Clio wouldn't get a look in.

What's all this talk of claiming back off the guy, or small claims courts? The guy sold you a car, it broke in your ownership, if you didn't spot anything was up when you viewed it, no sympathy. If in future you want the assurance of a warranty or customer rights, buy from a garage.

If it's not popping up when you pull on the release catch, the catch and grill are probably misaligned, preventing the bonnet lifting on it's own. The recall issue was regarding the secondary catch sticking and never moving back into place once the bonnet is shut.
