nope lol 1080 i or p is 1080 but it shows 60 or 50 frames per second instead of 25 or 30 lcd/plasma cant show interlaced pictures they de-interlace them into a progressive picture to display them http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deinterlacing

except when its displayed the tv re combines it to progressive as hdtv's cant do interlaced

legaly there is no issues really not against any law to use a proxy
