of course i mean the dell, you should overclock your new setup as a matter of priority, pointless havng it otherwise!
Buy mike's, wish i had watercooled mine!
Any need for that psu anyway? not had everpeince with them, corsair are very good and quiet. Enermax are awesome but not quiet....saying that mike182 is selling a 1000w one..might be worth asking him about..
depends what you front side bus speed is but theorteically could could probably double the speed of whate you have in there atm...you would need more info on your motherboard really
samsung spinpoint f1 drives are pretty top notch, you cna check out tomshardware charts for better benchmarks...or get a raptor if you have the money and don't mind the noise...
tbh i don't think it'll come to that..
no relax, one step at a time. it's a process, so start at the beginning
put your vista disc in, boot from the cd and follow the options to do a repair...it willl either see your hdd or it won't ,that'll indicate a problem right there if it doesn't..
it should be booting from hdd first, it could be a number of things, your hdd os install has cirrupted, try a windows repair to see if it sees the drive at all OR it could be a problme with SATA not being enabled inthe bios, perhaps reset the CMOS using the switch on the mobo and see if that...
Trouble is i know what you're like and you won't be happy with the i7's out and you not buying em...why not get a cheaper moterhboard aswell...not being funny but IMHO a £300 motherboard won't perform any better than a £150 one...
and don't forget if you sell your current chip you should still...
not overkill with the ram, i rekon this badboy is going to last you speccing it up like that.
i say that but you do realise you're going to be heavily tempted when i7 comes to light....you sure you want to spend all that money...?
Does it really count as a new beast if the heart of the monster remains the same? 4870x2 is overkill to be honest...but if you have the cash, f**k it, it will be immense, run crysis 50+ fps full settings 1920x1200. Thats what you want.
Yeh 4870's run idle 70deg i've heard...pretty stupid. there...
yeh it's pretty good. to be fair to you the one i had in mind, they don't sell anymore :/ not sure why. And the other ip35 boards seem to be as pricey as the 45's.
I thought you were getting a bundle ayway?
so in your opinion, do you think i'll need anymore than a 650w for the 4870x2? i'm only going to run one initally but i'm happy holding out on psu for a bit...
or start a thread...anyway as i'm posting this may aswell answer you. No flashing your bios is normally done with a floppy disc, there will be more instructions on how to do it on the manufatuers website, sometimes with some boards you can flash within windows and NO you don't have to reinstall...
i'm getting a 4870x2
i ahve 4hdd x1 dvd drive a sound card and around 4 fans...according to OC technicians i should be looking at 850w plus....sounds about right yes?
They're right i bought a 650w corsair psu which was great but i need 850w+ now ...wish i had just got 1000w when i had the chance before...will lose money this time..
Got a ps3. 9600 is ok, check tomshardware for benchmarks. Get a samsung f1 spintpoitn for 5.9 hdd rating...they're cheap aswell
Munson - screw i7 mate, wait for the technology to stabalise. I've heard they don't do gaming much benefit anywya....you're in a similar situ to me, i decided gcard is...
Been looking at benchmarks apparently, value for money wise, x2 4850 cards is the way forward, although i'm a bit reluctant to do this tbh as i'd want room for expandibility, but worth a thought.
get the processor bundle without a doubt. It's a great bit of kit. However....why don't you go with this instead? it's more pricey but 3.2ghz piss easy with that bundle...
iirc, and i may be wrong, but i'm fairly sure that range of processor doesn't have much room to manouevre. Maybe look on the overclockers.co.uk forum for some help
