No idea on inner tie. I've heard its a Renault only job due to the tool, but I believe Fred made his own.
I can replicate the knock so easy with the engine off and the car sitting on the drive. Happens every time I put steering lock on.
Did you have both wheels off the ground when you tried today.
Your original video you can see the movement in the tie rod pretty well. Doesn't seem like your really moving the disc tbh, We had to move my wheel side to side (9 + 3) quite aggressively to move the tie rod.

I never updated it, but I was looking at this problem on my car yesterday. We were able to replicate the noise by having the car on a ramp and shaking the wheel, when you grip the tie rod, you feel all the play. I'm booked in to get them changed just after Christmas.

Something odd about that. Its not the same wheel.
Split in front of the face, between the outer lip but the second photo shows its cracked on the inner side with the outer lip still intacked.
Just to add to this, I've got the same problem as the OP said. Checked it today at the garage and the drivers track rod had 2-3mm play, about 1mm on the passenger side. Its booked in to be done just after christmas now.
