Yeah Nigel, just bought the BG-E3 for my 400d and the difference it makes is immense, proper nicely weighted and chunky to hold onto, plus the added bonus of being able to use normal rechargable batteries, which are so much cheaper than buying another canon battery

Good choice, i did a lot of research before buying my 400d and it's not disappointed, wish I'd done as much before buying the E-400 :(

I got a 400d a couple of months back, have bought: 50mm f1.8 MKII 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM BG-E3 Battery Grip next on the hitlist is : 24-105mm f/4L IS USM Also got a photographic course booked for October :D

I find it's easier if you tell them you work in IT and everything has been tried with parts from other machines. they just send new parts out then aiiight

I've had HPs for years, never had any problems with them and found support (business support) to be unparalleled. My old Nc6000 had some right stick, got knocked down the stairs, dropped and it never missed beat in 3 years. Just got upgraded to a 6710b and it's top notch
