ah you're a star cheers. I do have a slow water leak somewhere and I'm topping the water once every 2 or 3 days at the moment, could that be effecting the fan then? and also I know what the temp sensor thing looks like now but what does the thermostat look like? Thanks for your help.

My fan isn't cutting in, would this just be the temp switch? I think I replaced the fan motor last year so doubt it's that. Anyone know of how to find out what's wrong with it? How much is a new temp switch, where is it, and how easy it to replace? Cheers
