Ive just had this same problem with my 172 mate, done everything you said, and then randomly one day start working again. I definitely think ive got an electric fault somewhere which is causing mine though

No idea what it was, the b*****d is starting again now, must just not like the cold weather! Gary_vvti changed the TDC sensor and it wasn't that, checked plugs, checked battery, all sorts tbf, but now it seems to be ok again that the weather isnt -4 anymore, lol. Definitely want it looking at...

Where do i find this TDC sensor on a phase 2 172??? Mines doing exactly the same

Argh, went to start the car today and it won't fire up! It's turning over and music comes on etc, but it just dies when it should fire. This only ever happens when it's cold, could it be the plugs??? Really don't think it's the battery as it's getting no worse. Need help as soon as please.

Thanks for all the replies, there is a Renault specialist in Sunderland, I'm sure I heard they were around £660 or so without water pump and service? So thought it was around the same?

Just got a quote from a decent garage up here for Cambelt, Aux Belt, Dephaser Pulley, Water Pump & a service, came back with £859 and it'll take a day and a half. Is this a decent price or would it be just as cheap to get it done from a main Renault dealer??? Thanks

So basically, what you's are saying, get a decent HU? I sold a canny one because i didnt want to loose the steering wheel controls and i read somewhere that the display doesnt show up what songs etc on dashboard?
