Check your permissions on your hard drive and your key chains, sometimes can mess up your speed. If you have any pkugins, try disabling and and turn then on one by one.

I know DK but I work for a tight ass company and paying for a couple of days consultancy is not really an option when we are small enough to do it in house. As much as we love Softcat, that money is better utilised in other areas such as marketing for generating extra revenue*.

I need to sort out the thumbnails to make life a lot easier. :) What skin were you using millsy, additionally, have you installed any other plugins? Seems like it needs a lot of configuration to get it up and running.

What skins are you using? I found that some make it really laggy. Have you organised all your films with the thumbnails and so on? Just installed the latest on mine and it's working fine, just want to make it nice and easy to use.
