I suppose that makes sense, they'll have the chassis ready to accept cup or standard spec parts won't they, rather than build one completely from scratch to order.
No idea, but it sounded mega pikey lol
lol what dick heads. I wonder if they were just trying to pull a fast one? "This fella won't have a clue that we've switched the parts out"
The company I bought my spoiler from said Renault ordered it for a customer and had it painted by this company.
It turned out the lad wanted the gt spoiler...
There's a black, 07, cup chassi'd and spoilered 197 with standard headlights for £5k at a dealership in Wigan. If it doesn't have recaros or climate, or no miles, it's a bit pricey imo.
Yeah, they only had the shorter box for a year and a half iirc. Changed in the last half of 2007. Which is my cars reg lol. Lucky
Jesus. Ten years ago lol
I thought the mk3 box only had one revision from the first 197s to the last 200s?
Isn't the only difference the longer sixth with 70 being 3.5krpm? If so, I've got that one
Good idea!
Chip this fella (or any other with a cheapish s6/8 of this age) then look for a b6 s4/c6 a6 v8 manual gearbox?
Might be a pain to do that way but could work out cheaper than a full engine and box
The kangarooing isn't to do with the gearbox. It's the cold map limiting power so you can't hammer it from cold.
Iirc there's a software patch to somewhat fix this. May be worth mentioning
There was a 3k s4 for sale a while back that needed a bit of engine work.
But as the engine would be coming out that wouldn't be a problem for you and you could probably make money back breaking the rest of it. Can't for the life of me find the advert though
6027 looks closest to the pearl and 6032 looks closest to the base to me.
But the ral system uses a solid universal paint system (there are a couple of metallics) to standardise colour codes in design and tooling.
It's not really ideal or suited for automotive use.
R26 engine swaps pay for themselves in a few years from the increased mpg.
...I'm sure.
Re the gearbox... If/when I need mine rebuilding, I'm really considering a longer sixth if it's possible.
I think it's an ixell paint code, completely different to the ral system
It's a coloured base coat with a pearl coat on top so one ral number won't work.
Renaultparts direct on here or a place called Buckley coatings in north wales will be able to sort you out with it
Buckley made me a pot of...
To be fair, it was just a case of 'chuck all the options on and slap on some badges'
No special suspension, no one colour run, no special exhaust, wheels etc etc.
Liquid yellow and stickers aside, there wasn't anything to differentiate it from a fully specced standard car.
At least the...
It's a shame they're not a 'proper' special edition clio.
Iirc they were the first of the parts bin special clios.
The only thing unique about them is that you could spec liquid yellow.
It makes me want to run my speedlines daily. I'll try and get them on in the coming weeks.
I think the wider/thicker tyre will work ace with the spacers :D
To be fair, If i was buying a clio again, it'd have to be a yellow 182 or a trophy to stop me buying a decent 197.
Just look at them
...they really make me want coilovers. Need more lows
Nobody wants a harsh, loud, difficult to drive clio that does 20mpg
The only things they have going for them is looks and handling. I still think they're the best looking renaultsport clio (v6 aside).
But, touch wood, they're fairly reliable cars.
The biggest issue I've had with mine was...
This really.
There's not really a reason to buy a clio ov for a Megane now.
I only got the clio because I couldn't reasonably insure a Megane at 21 when I got the clio
When I first moved to the north west I used to do a 90mile round commute in the 197.
110% would not recommend. The fuel bill for a start was hilarious. Even at 50mph most of the way.
