It is unlikely a loose top mount would cause it.
Could be a broken spring which can be really serious mainly because the spring can move and spear off into the tyre side wall.
Lowered springs quite often twang as they shift on full lock, due to different shape to oe spring, and is not normally...
That is a very substantial mod to the axle. Looks good.
I found when running the clio cup racers in 2001 we had very strange oversteer in extreme conditions on slicks. this was almost definetely down to rear axle flex.
the rear axle was on nylon and alloy bushes which stopped any flex in the...
Without being too critical, and i suppose the car's setup has to start somewhere.
The table is very simply correct, by that i mean very simply. That could be where the problems arise in trying to achieve a set up change that doesnt just confuse.
The tyre temperature across the treads can and...
Does the pedal start from the normal point ,or has it dropped slightly. Get your best friend to press the pedal slowly down, giving exact amounts of movement as they go, ie 5,10, 15, 20 ,mm.
Check at the same time the relevant movement on the clutch fork.
If fork /lever moves at the same time,(...
Very interesting comments from every one. The main reason everyone should be so scared of doing this cambelt job, even for the most skilled mechanics, is the way the camshafts grip onto the pulleys. These are flat faces which under high tightening loads do the job and grip.
The same system on...
Yes dont wait too long, sounds like the aux belt tensioner has siezed on pivot. aux ten Pulley will be ok, but belt will not be tensioned, hence belt noise when steering pump under max load regards mark
Hello Just read your symptoms again, Yes could be springs shifting in strut platforms.
This will give a heavy dong noise . rack movement is more subtle.
Lift bonnet get friend to move steering, touch suspension top mount as turning you will 'feel' noise.

Hello ,This is normally the steering rack to subframe bushes/mounts sligtely loose.
Four bolts from the rear, two on each side. 16 mm head bolts . Access is poor unless on ramp.

Just read this thread, before going to bed,
Full credit for all the efforts.
The lower ball joint is quite tricky to check . I have a favorite pry bar which is flat and narrow. you need to try to prise the ball joint downwards away from the wishbone, should be no movement, but it will flex twist...
This should be quite a simple job for a good workshop. first road test. determine how much pull, does it do it on and off power, and in same direction. Is the car steering from the rear. etc
vehicle inspection, check ball joints etc. for free play. check components are tight. etc.
The fact it...
If your not getting any wheel spin, it is not axle tramp, Which was really the way to describe old rear wheel drive, live axle violent movement.
It could be a dry or worn inner (drivers side) , drive shaft coupling.
Also a broken or loose nearside geabox mounting or bracket. can do the same...
Hello clio sport I am still trying to get on the traders list. I have sent two 'contact' messages requesting the same, so far no answer.
Any ideas you expierenced forum users.

The tyre debate cant be over discussed.?? yes uniroyals i believe did well in 'which' magazine tests. Yes, grip the same front and rear always a good start. I do swop tyres front to rear, just to wear the rears out before they end up perished or hard, tyres do last 60000 plus on the back of some...
Most of trackday braking issues are heat build up. Ie brands hatch indy circuit , three hard, one medium, and one light brake in the space of one mile. This from 100mph etc. This doesnt happen on public roads. (maybe mountain downhill switch backs?)
If you could get rid of all the extra heat...
My experience would say you only have four contact patches, ( if your wheels arent in the air, even for a split second.) You have already mentioned nangkangs lack of grip etc. Even if you dont exceed the grip level in normal driving, the one time you need all the grip it could really mean life...
