I purchased a new car this evening and it certainly is a bit of a step backwards. I've had some decent cars since joining Cliosport in 2008.
2008 Monaco
2009 Ph1
2009 TT
2009 Ph1
2010 Cup
2011 325
2012 Daewoo Matiz
She's a 2000 SE 798cc and pulls like a train!
I decided to buy some 18 inch CSL "Style" wheels as my standard wheels had seen better days, there was very little curbing but the inner face had corroded badly. They are staggered and I think they look good but I'm sure afew will prefer the standard MV2 wheels.
I sold my Cup last week and had intended on sharing my girlfriends Punto until next year, putting some money into my house. But instead I was straight on to Pistonheads and found this 20 mins away, I arranged a viewing and bought it.
It's a 325ci M Sport, 85k on the clock, FBMWSH, 2 owners from...
I have put my Cup up for sale, so today I thought I would give her a good clean and take some pics. She scrubs up quite well.
Here are afew of the pics...
I've done a search and I couldn't find a guide or anything to help changing the headlights on a MK2 PH2 172. It looks like the bumper has to come off, could any one tell me what is holding the bumper on? Easy job to get off?
It's been ages since I went for a drive just for the fun of it, so tonight I took the Cup for a bit of a blast. Was up and around Saddleworth Moore, had a really good time and I think i had forgotten how good the Cup is.
Over the last few weeks I've noticed my Cup seems to be a little twitchy. It is most noticable on an un-even road surface when I am either braking or accelerating, the steering wheel will move left or right if you havn't got a firm hold of it.
Anyone else experienced similar?
Loved it when he had it, but looks like it has seen better days now. Still would make a decent buy at 3k.

Fitted my Sportlines on Wednesday.
Before on Apex.
After.
Apex are good for cheap "lows" but it drives so much better (IMO) on Sportlines, I've done 10k on the Apex now and I think the next 10k are going to be much more comfortable.
I called euro car parts on Wednesday and asked if they did the strut top mount including bearing for a 172 Clio, they asked for my reg and when entered into their sysyem brought up a 2.0L 16v Clio Cup. They said they could deliver both parts for £21.54, so I ordered a pair.
This is what turned...
I'm going to replace my shockers and fit some Sportlines in the next week or so, I intend to fit new top mounts aswell. I've noticed that are two options, either replace the top mount and bearing or there is a "full kit" which includes the part on top of the strut under the bonnet.
Is it worth...
I'm currently considering 3 options regarding the suspeinsion for my Cup.
1. I've got 2 standard nearly new front shockers in the garage, so I'm thinking of getting some Sportlines and fitting them.
2. Upgrade to koni front shockers (£250) and then fit sportlines and keep standard rear...

Looks like a decent buy if you got him down to 3k, but I'd have thought it would have sold if it is as good as it looks.
For some reason my NS head light, NS rear light, OS side light and interior dial lights have all decided to pack up.
I'm pretty sure it's not the bulbs at fault and will check the fuses in the daylight tomorrow.
The other strange thing that happened today was the temperature gauge went from...
