Pushing my budget, particularly as it requires travel on top....
It's phone only, which makes things a little more direct (much prefer an initial exchange via email/text etc, but there we are). Are there any questions that have been left unanswered given the detailed ad/description? Would feel...
Ok, that's promising, I was keen to avoid a constant drone. Is it loud at low revs? I'd like something relatively subtle if I'm pootling about. Youtube can probably give me an idea I guess.
That looks to have had a hard life. It failed it's MOT twice this year before passing, has some bodywork issues & looks like it might be a more basic cabin. Not sure about the colour either :).
Yeah, I've looked at that & it does look like a good example, but I'm not sure how fond I am of RB & it's modified a reasonable amount, which I'm trying to avoid (as much as one can).
This example seems to be pretty solid? Again, something of a trek but is priced keenly, has a FSH, recent service, MOT looks good & belts done 2015 by a specialist:

They do seem to be & often command a premium.
I guess it's a case of weighing up whether I buy one at the top end of my budget & hope it stays healthy for the time being, or whether I opt for a cheaper one (likely denoted by colour, silver or black) & leave room for some work to be done to...
Thanks for the run down, nice to have it clarified.
The one you linked that's in Luton looks to have the non-poverty spec interior, although I can't see the console to ascertain whether it's got 'air con' or climate control but does not appear to have the cup spoiler & has silver wheels so I...
Yup, the distance is pretty spectacular!
Had a look at that one & agree it has potential given the price, in fact it's probably a pretty good option based on the info available (which isn't much) as it gives me scope/budget to tidy it up (MOT suggests 1 of the shocks is on its way out).
Not...
Yeah, it's a decent trip!
I'll be ensuring that it is on point before I commit to travelling for sure, but it looks in great nick on the info so far (further details requested) & the MOT history looks sound as well, so it's a decent starting point I think.
Thanks both, agree on the engine concerns, particularly given the listed price even though it looks like a good example.
First priced ok? Doesn't seem unreasonable but always happier paying less!
Hello all.
Been having a poke about today & have found the following. Any thoughts? Again, thanks for taking the time to respond:

Noted (I was under that impression), Good to know on the black/gold, not too in your face it would seem.
CSOC joined. The 'discussion' is at times rather interesting but looks to be a regular cycle of cars for sale so thanks for highlighting it.
Excellent points. I have been pushing on the belt proof for any car I've enquired about, I guess there is always a danger that it doesn't meet your expectations in the flesh.
I'm doing my best on the patience front!
I don't have a huge preference in terms of colour.
In order, probably - Silver, Black, Arctic Blue (I understand the black/gold variant is a different paint finish? How is this in the flesh?)
I'm in Edinburgh, so basically miles away unless the car is in Scotland, but I'm happy to travel for...
It's certainly a lottery!
I agree it's probably unfair to consider the seller a trader per se, but they certainly appear to be buying & selling cars on at what I presume is a profit.
Thanks again for your thoughts, they are welcomed given my relative lack of experience in the world of...
