I agree, I wanted to know if these are any better or worse than the standard non-FIA seats
I have just acquired a cage from -DAN- on the forum who is breaking his car soon, so as soon as he removes it I will have it in mine
I have never bought bucket seats before, this is my first track car...
I will be helping them at the garage, but 1 step at a time. I have done everything myself so far and will do the exhaust myself, but I dont have all the tools or spares yet so I'll take it to the garage and give them a hand so I can learn
I need an excuse to miss out on the other half's family days! Trying to get as much as I can stripped out, painted etc before I take it to a friends garage for the coilovers, poly bushes etc as that's beyond my skill level
Just looked them up, they look better and are probably better quality being corbeau.
Does anyone know if its worth paying more for FIA approved seats? what makes them better?
Seen these on ebay, but seem a bit to good to be true. They are not FIA approved but as its only a track car its not essential. Does anyone have any experience with them or know of any issues? I am looking for a cheap pair of seats and harnesses for the car as ive already blown my budget on more...
Cheers, it is in with the airbag wiring so would make sense. Seen as the passenger airbag is in the garage with the passenger seat and next week an airbagless steering wheel will be fitted I think I will remove these for weight saving  every little helps
Cheers. The dash is up for sale with the rest of the interior, see below. If that bar serves no purpose other than to hold some stuff up from the floor I will take it out and replace with good old light weight cable ties :smile...
Afternoon all,
I would like to remove the bar that goes across the car behind the dash board and also bolts to the centre of the floor pan behind the gear stick. I can't see and purpose for it other than to hold up the dash, which I have now removed. Does it do something else that I am unaware...
Today's update:
Moved the washer bottle to the rear. I will be getting a different washer bottle but for now this will do.
Stripped out the remaining sound proofing from behind where the dash was

Pulled up the tar or rubber pieces on the floor of the car...
Well that wasn't too bad. Blow torch it until it turns greenish then it just peels off. beware of the fumes though, I think I might be slightly high on them.
Going to clean off the residue and then prep for its paint job.
thanks for the help

Not sure yet, only done track racing at nurburg, doing my first uk track day in nearly 10 years in the next couple of months. I assume you just leave it with your mrs in the pits :tongueclosed:
Can you share your list?
Cheers for all the replys, boot space is not a problem, see picture below. But my mechanical ability and time constraints will be. HT leads, coil pack, clutch cable etc are things I can do, but fuel rails, starter motors etc are out of my knowledge. I am learning as I build the car, but for now...
I have just started to build a clio 172 track car, and so far i've had no problems.
What spare parts would the more experienced of you advise to take just in case?
cheers
tim
The dash is now completely gone. the lower dash was a bit of a pain but overall not to difficult.
If anyone can think of things to do better or differently post below, I have never done anything more than basic servicing on a car so all this is new to me and I'm learning as I go.
Top dash out...
Project Fast Frenchy
I thought I would keep a tab on the build of my clio 172 track car
So far all that's been done is induction kit, brakes and now i've stripped it out. There will be more to come!
It started with the induction kit and brakes being done for the Nurburg trip with all plans...
Having just started to build my track car I have been getting advice etc from some friends on a GTIR forum. So if you are interested to see how the build is going there is a link to my project thread below.
Cheers,
Tim

I have just stripped my 172 this afternoon as its going to be a track only car, wouldn't do it if its a day to day car. Just took it for a blast down my local duel carriageway and could defiantly notice a difference in acceleration, not huge but defiantly noticeable. It is much noisier though
